I have an ipod, but for home listening enjoyment my vinyl system kicks ass. I'm one of those dorks, don't even ask. Just tell me if you have any favorites.

Hey...I've recently done the vinyl revival thing too!

Bought a turntable off of eBay to put in my studio so I could make recordings off my massive vinyl collection...I used to be a DJ when I was younger!

Turns out, I never get around to recording. Instead, I just sit back, throw on a favorite album and enjoy!

Forgot how relaxing that used to be, and you could study the album graphics while you listened! Now that's a lost art!

I could spend hours looking over a Boston or ELO album jacket! Can't do that with CD jewel cases these days!

Every so often I demonstrate what vinyl was like to my clueless daughter and her friends...I even play some of those tracks that have the hidden messages that you can decode if you play them in reverse...my favorite is ELO "Fire On High".

I don't know if there is a Half Price Books store in Chicago, but the ones here have a super collection of vinyl...my wife and I spent a lazy Friday evening going through their collection!

Talking Ahh Vinyl and a nice glass of Merlot

I'm listening to Cream Live at the Fillmore. Eric is sounding fine on Spoonful. My original silver cover copy of Wheels of Fire was purchased new in 1968 at the Western Auto store in Asheboro, NC of all places.

I'm listening to it on my Merrill Heirloom turntable that George Merrill himself built for me in 1989 or 90. The turntable is sitting on a Lead Balloon stand.

Sweet!

Yep album art is definitely one of the reasons I like vinyl. Not looking for anything in particular, just whatever catches my eye and memory, well, actually 70's rock.

I have a Jimi Hendrix LP I bought at a flea market or something like that years ago called 20 Golden Pieces. It was recorded in some dive pub in England and is all blues standards. You can hear people murmuring and glasses clinking in the background. Poor fidelity overall but a great experience. Reading this thread makes me want to get out the old Yamaha turntable and show the teenagers what it's all about. I already introduced them to the sound of a 78 bakelite platter on a wind-up Strand phonograph. They thought it was pretty cool until I told them in those days you had to interrupt the making out every 3 minutes to change the platter.

Lynyrd Skynyrd/Street Survivors. Their last album. After the plane crash the album cover was changed. The original showed the band surrounded by fire. The "edited" version used the same picture, but without the flames. Great record.

I scored a Easy Rider soundtrack LP a couple of years ago at the fleamarket, man, it's sweet, with lines from the movie dubbed into the record.

I wish I could fix the problem with my turntable, it loses the left channel when I tray to playback in stereo. When I use the mono button on the receiver, the left channel comes back, but not quite as strong as the right. This only happens when using the turntable, the tape deck, and radio work fine. It's a late '70s Yamaha CR-320 tuner, with a Dual 621 turntable, and some old Bang & Olufsen speakers.

I have an old Technics record player with a counter balance weight and speed control. It sounds richer then a CD on some LPs on others not so much. You have to have a slab foundation or it will jump. I also have and use a Philips reel to reel and it sounds better then both.

My favorite album to play is Led Zepplin IV and the best of the Eagles on R2R its Clapton and Steel Pulse.
