1936 540K Cabriolet

Just sold for $935,000.00 on RM classic car auction. :rolleyes4

TheDon 05-01-2007 10:39 PM

thats one of the Sindelfingen 540K's

Dubyagee 05-01-2007 10:45 PM

Yeah, that name came up during the auction. Something about the body.

I dont know much about this era. Beautiful car.

The Swede 05-01-2007 10:47 PM

Yeah, I'm watching it now. More enjoyable than "Barrett-Jackson", which was nearly all over hyped muscle cars.

Dubyagee 05-01-2007 10:51 PM

Its on ESPN Classic/Dish Network.

i don't know the name but i will say by looking at the lines that that car carries a french built body....and a very lovely one at that.

Wow thats a car! I love the high end pre war cars! They cost so much for their day, and were all nearly custom one off's. Truely works of art! A car like that I could have glass of wine and just sit looking at it. Imagin all the work that went into that body, all those curves, by hand.

Any idea who the seller was? There is a car collector in my town that has/had a car like this. Wondering if he sold it. He also has several Packards and a Deusenberg. Quite a sight.

The books I have on the history of Mercedes Benz cover the 540K's in depth. This particular coach builder was one of many that made the specialized 540k's
