New 69 camero anyone?

droool. Now I can have a 69 camaro like my dad used to have until he sold it...

that and an entire year one and jegs catalouge and I'll be set.

That's really great that someone offers new bodies like that, now if they would just pop out some Challengers and Barracuda's I'd be a happy camper, but it may take away from the collectability of the original cars if everyone had one of the new clone packages.

I guess the scale tips both ways on that one, but sweet nonetheless.

On one of the tv car shows I saw them build a Camaro from parts they bought at the local parts shop. All the body panels are available from Taiwan and the frame, suspension, and engine came from the US.

My dream cars growing up were AMGs and Ferraris.

Some of those old muscle cars looked really good, and some of them were pretty fast. And the best of them sounded great at idle and at launch, kind of like a four wheeled Harley sensation They couldn't brake or corner well though, and weren't comfortable for long trips. But they were pretty easy to work on though.

Having an unmolested mint survivor would be much better than having some clone. Or one of those Chip Foose creations.

Yeah, and I want it to come with motor mounts that stay together. Not like the factory ones we used to replace all the time. Cousins '69 396/325 used to just eat them. Big rat motor in pony car body can be fun. But if I wanted to drive it, I had to change the mounts.

They were crap then and they are crap now. But still have their merits... namely... instanaeous head snapping fun. Big V8 with a carburetor definitely has a great feel, much different than EFI.

I could never really like one because of the handling and steering though.

Last year, I was a freshman in highschool. There was a really preppy kid who had an M3. He though he was hot stuff until a buddy brought out his dads duster. Showed the preppy kid what american muscle is!


But I agree. My childhood favorites were always AMGs, Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghini, and the like! Its good fun playing with Mustang GTs, Camaros and Firebirds in the dads SL. Showing them sophistication, refinement, and elegance.

I love how american muscle shift hard, and the driver is thrown around, while I have nice smooth shifts. Ahhh, refinement!

I worked at a Chevy dealer in 1969 when the first 427 Camaro was delivered. I bet that car went thru two sets of rear tires from the salesmen, mechanics, and dealership owner lighting the tires up all around town. They probably didn't mention that to the guy that bought it.

I wish my dad was still around so we could have one of those cliche father son build a hot rod and kick the rich kids ass and his fathers ass at a drag race and win their stupid exotic car then let them keep it because our car is superior moment

It was fast in it's day, but there are a lot of cars on the market now that could smoke an old Camaro.

The 427 Yenko ran 0-60 in mid-low 5 sec range, and 1/4 in the mid 13's. Old muscle cars simply can't keep up with new technology.

My idea would to buy a sleeper, like a late 60's Caddy. Build the 472, add some nitrous and keep the body totally stock. When I was in the Cad Club, a few guys built 600-700 hp beasts that would run 1/4 miles in the high 11's. Now that would surprise Biff in his Beeeeemer. :)

Price is off. By the time its all built, you could get a real nice original.

True... but not exactly how you want it.. ya know.. some people.. like me.. want things a certain way... like red swaybars.. instead of blue

There's a '69 Camaro Z28 for sale on eBay - supposedly our local Benz dealer is selling it (Sarasota MB). Sez it's a frame off restoration. Can't tell what the engine is...it doesn't look original. (the dash sure isn't original)

However, it does look like it could blow a few doors off.
