Time Warner SUCKS!

I needed to get that out.

No interenet service here for the last several hrs. Its been working maybe 30% of the time for the last three weeks.
The signal comes to the town via a microwave link over the lake. Very poor fade margin engineered in the link so if it rains or there's the slightest fog on the lake there's no service.
If/when it comes back on I have to reset the cable modem.
Techs are clueless. They keep wanting to send someone out to my house to check my system 24hrs after I call.
The billing statement has a "24 hour" customer service number listed. Calling before 8-10am gets you an answering service that will take a msg.

When I finally do get to talk to someone, twice I've been told they will issue me credit if I hold the line and talk to a customer service rep. Both times they terminated the call.

This morning the Time Warner lady tells me "no need to yell at me sir". I ask "then who do I need to yell at?"

I read somewhere they were rated #3 on the worst customer service list. I think they've moved up.

Locally, Time Warner is just a couple blocks away but I use a different provider, Everest.

When I call them (seldom) a human voice answers on the second ring. Marvelous service.

Out again

I'm at the library.

What TW calls "cutomer service" tells me they will come out Monday and check. They also state they show no outage in my area.
Calling another number they tell me "oh yea... whole town's been out since last night".
My account runs out on the 13th (sunday). They scheduled the service call for monday the 14th.

Idiots!

This same BS is common with Verizon as well. When I had DSL with them, they could not know that an outage was present unless a lot of calls came in to complain. Therefore, each and every time......"it must be your computer".

They would try and troubleshoot it from the top on each occasion starting with how many connections are present before the wall jack. No amount of explanation that the connections to the wall are not the issue. Never found the problem..........but anywhere from 1 hour to 1 day later.........the service was restored.

I truly understand why a person could go postal on these people. They rightfully deserve the business end of a 12 guage.

I finally, disposed of them and got the cable. Much faster and almost perfect reliability. I'll never use Verizon again........even if they bring their fiber here..........it's the principle. They wasted at least 20 hours of my life........for nothing.

I received two msgs from TW this afternoon. One at 4pm stating they have it fixed. Another one at 7pm asking if it is working. I answered "I don't know...gave up this morning". Her reply was " I guess its still out so we'll send the tech out on monday".

I noticed four Time Warner trucks parked outside the local eatery at around 1pm. Felt like slashing their tires.
BTW, I noticed a very big sign posted on the local grocery store bill board.

It reads:

Time Warner/comcast
*SUCKS*
They took my money,
I got nothin'.

My Time Warner (Houston) has been a pain in the ass too, but for HD programming and cable internet, there's no other choice. My issue has always been weak signal issues, so I've educated myself about how the system should work, and I tell the techs what to do when they get here - then I watch them do it.

Overall, TWC is a pain in the butt, but when my weak signal issues are gone for a nine-month stretch, I'm happy. The HD signals and the internet signals are finicky ones - if their not just right, you get nothing.

The trouble with DSL (from any provider) is the fact that those teensy copper lines are used. Most of the time the trouble is not at the Central Office, but somewhere out in the field, where some doofus ran over a pedestal, or decided to dig up dirt where he shouldn't have.

Even fiber won't be 100% perfect - there is always somebody with a backhoe, ready to dig in, and pull out a cable - usually they call someone to fix it...but everynow and then, they pretend they never saw it, and try to cover it up.
I think that once your neighbors have fiber, and you see the clarity and speeeeed! that they have, you might give your provider one more chance.
