I love having a son

Today, wake up in the morning. Head south, visit the Forestville Mystery Cave

Then we went fossil hunting. Found some old seashells. Finally we went and watched some good old fashioned dirt track racing. Now back at the hotel. What a day.

I love hanging out with my best friend.

And keep reminding him how you changed his diapers, because someday he may have to change yours.

Kuan:

I have 4 kids, 3 girls and a boy. I really enjoy my relationship with my daughters. I am a better man by virtue of having daughters.

But I am very, very glad that I also have a son.

We get to do all kinds of cool things, like working at the hangar restoring old planes. Two summers ago we took a road trip that included a side trip to the Grand Canyon. Stayed overnight at a hotel in Williams and took the steam train to the GC.

A few weeks ago we drove down to San Diego (stopped at the Irvine Benz Classics Center) to tour the USS Midway and check out the planes.

And this summer we are planning on going to Dayton Ohio to check out the Air Force Museum there.

I have done similar things wiht my daughters, but it is totally different when my son and I are together.

Enjoy his company now because they grow up really fast.

I feel the same way about my son.

We have twins, a boy and a girl, and I am the only one among my large circle of friends who has a boy.

Many of my friends have two daughters, and are glad they have no sons. It's the strangest thing. No one wants boys.

He is only 3 and 1/2 years old, but he loves being my buddy. He likes to come up to me and say, "I'm helping papa".

He'll pretend to fix things like I do, plays with wrenches on his bike, etc. It's an awesome thing when he tries to copy everything I do.

All I have is one, and this is it for us. We're of advanced age. (parentically speaking) I guess there are Dad-daughter things I could do if I had a daughter, but since I don't have one I won't have to bother.

Man it was fun today. Some good old fashioned dirt track three wide drifting, greasy cheese fries and lousy keg beer. Tell you what, they run what's called a late model class and these things lift one wheel off the ground going into and coming out of the turn. I bet these things have 500hp in them. It's been awhile and I'd forgotten what a good deep V8 growl sounded like.

PS: It's 10:00pm and he's still freaking amped. Won't go to sleep. My fault I guess.

PPS: Don't you love Saturday nights during the summer in middle America?

My son is 1yrs old as of a few weeks ago, he is the cutest thing and more precious to me than anything I could imagine (his mother is pretty close though) I look forward to working on motorcycles/generators/lawnmowers/MB diesels with him someday... (if I am so lucky...)

There is nothing like having a child (if he were a daughter we'd still work on stuff together =) Anyone who says otherwise doesnt know what they are missing.

I have a newborn baby girl and I can tell you right now that I'll make damn sureshe knows how to work on her own car... my wife can teach her the "girly" stuff but I'll make damn sure that she will get the complete "engines&beer" education... no discrimination from me there.

fatherhood is the best gift, ever.

My son will be 4 in June. It is a real test of patience but any time I work on something I like to have him ther with me. It is the best thing ever to see them see things for the first time.

I have three daughters.

I have raised them to be tough, independent, kick-ass types.

When it comes to mechanical things, however, they have absolutely no interest.

I tried teaching them about oil changes, spark plug r&r, how to change a flat. Nothing, no interest whatsoever.

My son, on the other hand, was taking things apart and putitng them back together since he was a little kid.

Whether we like it or not, men and women are wired different.

My advice, if anyone is interested, is to enjoy your children for what they are. You can't make them like the things that you like. Instead, become interested in what they like...

I have never had an interest in planes. I love trains and everything about trains.

My son has been in love with planes since he was a toddler. Through him I have learned to love and appreciate planes.

We learn from them as much as they learn from us.

BTW, I just came back from helping my oldest move to her new apartment.

I am beat. So many boxes!!!

Oh how I wish she was dating a big, strong football player...

Don't give up yet. I taught the wife how to change the oil in the Benz using a topsider. She can change a tire too. Good girl!

Well,God bless you, seems you're on the way to make a great father.

When my wife dicovered she was enceinte I fervently hoped and prayed it would be a girl, not for any sexist reasons but for the fact that if I HAD a son he would inherit all my proclivities and I would be powerless to combat them,I'd have such sympathy for him.
Well,my daughter is already running things at age 8 and, true to her parentage can spot a phoney a mile away, she also knows how to handle a Browning .22 and has shot a raccoon with it{dear wife does not know}This is one gal who will be capable,self-reliant and able to knock down any forward guys with a sucker punch with her full body weight behind each punch.

Yeah,I'm raising her like a guy but she loves it,hell, she already re-timed my 1915 InterState tourer.........under my directions of course.........

i have four daughters whom i love dearly.

but there is definately a bit of extra closeness that is possible with the son.

too bad he is not a gear head at all.

oh well, perhaps one of my five grandsons will be one. (two aren't born yet, but are verified by ultrasound).

3 boys, 1 girl here between 9 mos. and 9.5 yrs. My oldest (son) loves going to sporting events (we go to a lot of minor league baseball games, I bring him to a Patriots game or two, going to bring him to a Sox game this year) and we hit the local NASCAR short tracks a couple of times a month over the summer. He's very bright, very sensitive, highly competitive and very active (he's been tested for ADHD but doesn't fit any parameters.) We're still trying to figure out if he's testing us (and his teachers) or if there's some underlying stuff going on.

I'm thankful for my daughter (7.5 yo) and also thankful that I have 1. She hasn't really expressed much interest in sports until recently but I might bring her to some races this year.

The youngest 2 are still too young to do much as far as attending events with dad, but as soon as they are old enough they'll be there too.

While it's been trying at times, most of the it's not and being a dad is tremendously rewarding. I look forward to the boys and I terrorizing all of the punks that come around looking for my daughter.

That's where being a prosecutor, and having lots of friends in law enforcement, comes in mighty handy!
