The article I read said the coins were being kept in a secret, secure location.
I'll bet. I forget, what was it 17 tons of silver coins and quite a few gold ones also? Oh man . . . . .

I heard on the news today that Spanish authorities want to look into this. Another possible location of the discovery is near the straits of Gibraltar.
I hope there's no way they can get their hands on more than a token amount of it. Stuff would be there for god knows how many centuries if not for the guys who hunt for it.

One possibility I heard about was that it had been on a British ship about to go through the Strait of Gibraltar on its way to bribe, uh, er, uh, offer support to a possible ally in the South of France.
I've read that treasure hunters like these guys have to jump through serious hoops whenever they find anything major, and they're saying this is the biggest find of all time. Said the coins were in near mint condition, many of them.
