Sling vs Hulu

I think I am going to pay off my Direct tv contract early and start streaming. My wife is addicted to Investigation Discovery and I found that oth services now carry that channel.

Does anyone have experience with either? I saw on Sling that I need an antenna to get locals. Not a huge fan of that. Hulu seems to stream it but at a higher premium while Sling is less ($25 a month). Since Sling uses an antenna I am guessing I cannot record which is something Hulu offers.

I am leaning toward Hulu but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks

Look at Roku too. Are you going to be able to record stuff or are you still using a VCR? I'm thinking about dumping Direct (AT&T) too and have a Roku we use.

I keep thinking we should look at alternative providers as well. If not we may ask for a reduction in cost for all the summer months. As we are not living at home. We have no services at the beach except for the wives cellphone.

I used DtvNow which was awesome but they screwed up all their models and pricing since. I switched to Sling blue and orange but they do not let me record ESPN (i.e. where F1 is broadcast live...) on DVR. So they are out the window soon too. F1 races are broadcast at 3-4am sometimes...cmon.

I basically want IMSA races, F1, and science channel/natgeo/smithsonian along with local sports. I think I am going app and antenna now.

I have Hulu, it's really cheap with some commercials it's $6 month. I got it for 99 cents a month for a year which they do around Christmas. It has a lot of shows but it's best to check it has what you want, there are different tiers. I just wanted it to have something to watch every now and then. Technically it works well, never a problem. You just need internet.
