Anybody had this new tetnus shot w/whooping cough vaccine?

I got a tetnus shot yesterday that had a vaccine in it for whooping cough. I didn't think much about it, so I said okay. This morning I feel like I've got the flu. I thought the doc or the nurse would have mentioned side effects like that, but they didn't. Anybody else here had that shot?

Vaccines can often have that side effect, Dee8go. Usually gone within 24-48 hours or so. Sometimes a dull pain/swelling at the injection site as well. But the medical value of vaccination is unquestionable. If they gave you the vaccine for whooping cough, there was a reason behind it, IMO. I wouldn't worry about it, though if your symptoms persists for a few days or worsen, I would go back to the physician.

All IMHO and not to be considered true medical advice.

Here is some more info -

The DPT vaccine is given to children to prevent diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough) and tetanus. The pertussis portion of the DPT shot is composed of killed B. pertussis bacteria, the same bacteria that cause whooping cough. In the bacteria are toxins which are responsible for the neurological complications of both the vaccine and the disease. The DTaP vaccine contains a purified acellular version of the pertussis vaccine and has fewer B. pertussis toxins in it. The DTaP vaccine is associated with fewer reactions but can still cause injuries and death.

Well, PLEASE tell me you at least PLAY a doctor on TV, Chris.

Thanks. I haven't had a vaccination for anything in so long, I can't even remember the last one.

Lol, no wife is a doctor. I also took biology with her in university (where we met), so I've kind of kept up on some of the more basic medical knowledge she has acquired by proxy (and by proofing her journals, etc.). But by no means do I consider myself anything other than a casual study at best, pretending to know medicine is a baaaad idea, hence my caveat.

I added some info on the vaccine on the post above.

Thanks for the info. I don't think there's much that one could ask about on this forum and not get an answer.

Sometimes the answers are even correct! My kids always say that about me. I always have an answer. . . .

I had a tetris shot last week, and now I have the urge to build walls using a variety of colorful, but irregular rectangular shapes...

Maybe they gave me the Tetris shot by accident. I feel like that's what's going on in my head. I rarely get sick, but this thing has really slammed me. I may go home and try to sleep this off.
