Both were '80s right? Ungh. Nasty decade.

Max Headroom was interesting I thought. The guy poked his finger into some powerful eyes. Remember "Blank Reg?" He was an old fart who had a TV station in his mobile home.

A blank was someone who wasn't on the govt. rolls, didn't have a credit card or get govt. handouts and didn't pay taxes.

The show only lasted 4 episodes and I always thought it was because it was a little too scathing on the whole concept of network TV itself.

I liked Max Headroom. It was one of the few cultural developments of that decade that I DID like. I didn't realize it was only on for four episodes, though.

Kansas as in the state or as in the band? Either way, I dig, but you can have the chick.

There were more than 4 episodes shown in the US. More like 14-15.

I could be wrong on the 4 episodes part but it didn't last long. I checked Wikipedia, they didn't specify the number but they did say this:

In 1987, the TV movie's story formed the basis of a full-fledged drama television series rather than an entertainment show. The original one-hour film was re-shot as a pilot program for a new series broadcast by the U.S.-based ABC television network. The pilot featured plot changes and some minor visual touches, but held the same storyline. The only original cast retained for the U.S. version series were Matt Frewer (Max Headroom, Edison Carter) and Amanda Pays (Theora Jones); W. Morgan Sheppard later joined the cast as "Blank Reg"; Jeffrey Tambor co-starred as "Murray,” Edison Carter's neurotic editor.

The U.S. series expanded on the cyberpunk themes in the British TV movie but otherwise had no other connection to the British music video show. In perhaps a unique arrangement in the history of television, the U.S. spin-off series featuring Max Headroom was a fictional drama, while its main character was originally created for a non-fiction entertainment show in Britain.

The series began as a mid-season replacement in spring of 1987, and was sufficiently popular to be renewed for the fall television season, but (ironically) the viewer ratings could not be sustained and Max Headroom was cancelled part-way into its first broadcast season; leftover episodes aired in spring 1988. Plans for a cinema version titled, Max Headroom for President, were mentioned in the media, but the film was never produced.

I think I might have only become aware of it at the start of the second season and if I read that right, that lasted 5 episodes. I might look for DVDs of those. They were a kick.
