Did you hear about this Jiffy Lube story?
Is Your Mechanic Cheating? Part 1
By Joel Grover and Matt Goldberg POSTED: 7:57 am PDT April 21, 2006 http://www.knbc.com/investigations/8881193/detail.html Customer paid for jobs that were not done. I experienced such a thing at other place (not at a large chain shop but at a premium independent).

I remember that being on TV last year, especially the part of the D Manager saying he was a customer.

They are so dumb I wouldn't let them check my oil, let alone do anything.
There is a great little shop down the street from me, the guy is honest as can be. Only costs $25 to get an oil change on a normal car, screw the chain guys.

The Car Talk guys say they don't even pull the plug anymore. Too much chance of something going wrong. So they suck it out through the dipstick tube.
One caller was asking them if draining out the bottom helped to flush out crap that had accumulated on the bottom of the oil pan. I think they said that would likely be better but not something to lose too much sleep over. I'm with Hat. I change my own oil.
