Did you hear about this Jiffy Lube story?

Is Your Mechanic Cheating? Part 1

Customer paid for jobs that were not done.
I experienced such a thing at other place (not at a large chain shop but at a premium independent).

I remember that being on TV last year, especially the part of the D Manager saying he was a customer.

i recently purchased jiffy lubes top of the line package,,,until i got home the next day and complained to my wife the guy had forgot to top off the trans fluid,i did not even know what i was supposed to have gotten for 50 bucks....after going over the list i found out the absolute only thing they did was change the oil and filter......thats it,then used 10-w30 when i asked for 20-40...... after calling back the district manager had me come to his shop where he told me if he did remove the oil they put in he would have to charge me for the new oil......the only single thing i had asked for was just that, for him to replace the oil......didnt ask for any money nor of the other services i paid for to even be performed.as well, i did go in there because they offered a free oil change with purchase of th 50 dollar one, swell,,,ill give it to my wife......well,to addd fuel to the fire, the free change coupon still hasnt gotten back, that was over 8 weeks ago it was sent for ......ha-ha,,! lesson learned.

They are so dumb I wouldn't let them check my oil, let alone do anything.

There is a great little shop down the street from me, the guy is honest as can be. Only costs $25 to get an oil change on a normal car, screw the chain guys.

The Car Talk guys say they don't even pull the plug anymore. Too much chance of something going wrong. So they suck it out through the dipstick tube.

One caller was asking them if draining out the bottom helped to flush out crap that had accumulated on the bottom of the oil pan. I think they said that would likely be better but not something to lose too much sleep over.

I'm with Hat. I change my own oil.
