1 Attachment(s)
Damn terrorists! always with the Mercedes!
I was listening to the radio and they said the terrorists tried to blow up part of London with a bomb in a Mercedes. i had to look up the picture. here is the link or the new report: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070629/ap_on_re_eu/britain_bomb_defused |
yeah saw the post on benzwolrd, but thats actually a W124.
|
Wow...they narrowly escaped that...
Looks like a 124 to me. |
And what an unecessary waste of Euro headlights if it actually detonated! :rolleyes4

It is a thistle green W124, you can see the orange, mandatory blinker light the car has on its fender. Likely stolen.
More and more cars like that are being stolen, dismantled and shipped to West Africa. London Police recently broke up a huge theft ring that was run by East Europeans. |
am i missing some thing.... i always get the 124s and 201s mixed up. but i thought i had this one nailed. chack out this shot of the front end.
http://d.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/nm/20070629/2007_06_29t052519_450x329_us_britain_bomb.jpg?x=380&y=277&sig=DmG510SpVdr27hBkn3177w-- i thought the 124 had body colored metal between the grill chrome and the headlight, like on the 126. and the 210 had the grill chrome up ageist the headlight like the 123... maybe I'm wrong... |
Perhaps they decided the car was too much trouble generally and also wanted rid of it.:bomb: I read some of the reports on general product customer satifaction and it was quite sick. There seems to be a major risk factor in the aquisition of newer models. If the dealer is not exceptional you could be really stuck.
Some of their dealers and company attitudes towards their products are somewhat questionable as well if you want to retain customers. Some of the stories just plain border on nightmares. Especially relevant where the cases of where the customers have been denied the return of brand new cars with unrepairable major problems from the moment of purchase. Or have parked newer examples still under a warranty that has not been honoured. I do not believe in big government personally but this reeks of fraud or worse if true. Legal recourse has been also twisted out of shape if available and affordable. I would have my lawyer write up a contract for them to sign prior to buying a new one. From what I have read that is not going to happen anyways as I would never buy a new example of their product. The trust is just not there. Their recent track record is. In reality I found what I read unbelievable in general. Yet there is so much of it. I still like my older examples though. Why a company with so much history has landed up in this shape deserves a book. I would stand in line to get a copy. |

Beautiful car, anyhow. I hope it's owner gets it back, although I suspect it's now condemned. Not really sure what they do in a case like this, where it's now a major piece of evidence. Scary. |

124-fest. The green one is a 280E
|
The LAST car you want to use as a car bomb, IMO, as we all know the 124 is built like a tank. If I understand the story correctly, all 4 doors were open when the police discovered it. Maybe the terrorists did know what they were doing. :D
