'69 Chevelle

Weiand 671 supercharger on a 454 -- 789hp

Eagle rotating assembly, H beam rods, twin 750 Holleys, MSD ignition, Comp roller cam, roller rockers, 400 turbo trans, Eaton 3.73 posi w/ a 12 bolt rear diff

Wicked fast, sick fast.

POS 07-01-2007 03:32 PM

Crap! How do you keep those skinny rear wheels on the ground?

Push ever so lightly.

Matt L 07-01-2007 04:19 PM

And take another pair of wheels with you to the track.

What's the asking price?

Jim B. 07-01-2007 04:37 PM

Transplanted mill. That car isn't even an SS. Might even run better on 103 octane Avgas.

First year for the 454 was 1970, in the SS 454.

You'd twist off the differential after every 5th burnout. You pay the bills by bounty hunting Hemi Cuda's.

Wicked good fun, for sure. A wheelstanding honey, for sure. Only good in a straight line though. It will corner on its doorhandles.

The Swede 07-01-2007 05:21 PM

It had a 350, not an SS, nothing special.

A local, well regarded engine builder did the motor and driveline to the tune of $20k. Nice thing about the car is that it's clean, with a suprsingly good paint job, not a "10 foot'er" by any means. Interior is about 8/10.

The rear tires are way too skinny, we spun the thing out at 60 mph. Went down the highway ramp and got the front wheels of the ground (he was driving) I just about crapped my pants. :)

He wants $20K. Probably would take $18.5

Dazed and Confused?

What size tires is that car shod with?

Not sure, probably 235's. Need at least 285's on the rear. Fronts are almost new, but the rears- yikes.

TheDon 07-01-2007 07:02 PM

20k.. sounds kinda low for something that cool

so will that be for city driving or no?

It's just an old Chebby with a monster motor. The guy is selling his built Camaro as well, needs cash fast. Both cars have been on the market for a month, dropped prices on both. I think he's ready to deal.

It's a street car, however he's driven it on the interstate at ~75mph, but it's not built for that. Maybe a few miles here and there. It doesn't have a hood either. I found one on Craig's list for $75. A body shop could cut it and paint it flat black for a few hun.

One word: Impractical.

TheDon 07-01-2007 07:28 PM

you know you want it ^_^

Heck ya. I just have to convince my wife. Achem, "Dear, it's a "shop car", not really "our car" ". :scream:

I've looked at some pro-streets -- 10 gallon gas tanks and useless tubbed trunks, not to mention roll cages and no windshield wipers. Plus most are priced $30K plus.

At least this car is pretty much intact. Needs a hood and also needs the heater hoses hooked up. A/C compressor is out of course.

He's never taken it to the track. With MT slicks and tuned right, I'd bet it would run an easy 10 sec 1/4 mile. Mine (with street/strip tires) will do 11.9.

cudaspaz 07-01-2007 07:48 PM

Your comment about paying the bills by hunting hemi 'cuda's may offend some Mopar guys, but back in the day, most of them ran like slugs unless you could get someone who could tune them properly, then it was a totally different animal.

You may have encountered some of them.:D

Here's my version.

That wasn't me. I was born around the time those cars were coming off the assembly line. :)

A 413 stroker with a crossram intake with two offset 4bbls, a 125# shot of nitrous for track use only.
A-833 four speed, sure grip rear with 3:91 gears.

I will eventually cram a crossram hemi in it, but I want to play for a while.

TheDon 07-01-2007 09:40 PM

sounds like alot of fun

I'd love for some form of big block muscle car with open headers... or even a gasser style dragster... drool drool

Sounds like a blast! Post pics of your progress.

Hatterasguy 07-01-2007 11:40 PM

Thats a very reasonable around town business car, heck I should get one too. I could show like 6 houses in 15 minutes, hang on people here we go!:D

What kind of mileage does it get? .5MPG?

there is something about a car that has gobs of horsepower and now blower that makes me proud to be a man...

I'd love to roll up to work in one of those.. light the tires in the parking lot and then go to work...

Hatterasguy 07-02-2007 12:07 AM

Time for some primal grunting and showing off of chest hair.:D

Something about a massive American V8 with a massive blower, and way way to much power.

TheDon 07-02-2007 12:08 AM
