Eco-maniacs vandalize man's new Hummer

This goes too far! Kinda like the abortion clinic extremists...what's next? Tossing grenades at passing SUVs?

I would buy huge old dually pickup and park it on the lawn...

Maybe get a few more gas guzzlers.

Oh yeah and a shotgun Rock salt up the butt is a great vandalism deterrent!

That's a shame. If he can afford to pay for the gas so be it. That doesn't give the enivromaniacs a right to destroy his property.

ever see how many Peta people show up to rallies in leather shoes?

I'd take a baseball bat and give the Prius a work over as a thank you.

It has been warped like this for a while. These sorts of chicken***** attacks on personal property to punish and intimidate people for having the wrong beliefs have escalated over the last ten years.

Back in the early 1990's, I had my car vandalized because of a bumper sticker that was on the back (supporting a moderate Democratic candidate for governor in Virginia). They used a blade or screwdriver to gouge the bumper sticker repeatedly, and then carved "Baby Killer" in the paint.

Whoa. That made an impression on me, but probably not the one they were intending.

It wasn't isolated. I have heard of this B.S. happening a lot to the cars of people with bumper stickers or political yard signs in various places, at various times. I haven't seen as much of this on the left as on the right -- although ELF and some extremist left wing environmentalists have been using arson and sabotage for a while -- like, trashing SUVs and burning down ski lodges. And of course, there was always the Klan and and its Nightriders running around with their guns and cans of gasoline back in the day ... but now the intimidation tactic seems to be cropping up in petty ways in suburbia.

Chalk it up to the breakdown of civil discourse, and a disrespect for boundaries. But I have always felt that trashing someone's personal property in the dead of night was a particularly cowardly, narcissistic and underhanded thing to do to someone.

I know what you mean. In '01 we lived in Minneapolis not far from U of M. Our Land Rover was vandalized several times, I can't remember how many antenaes we put on it....

It was a gas burned and I still had my US Army stickers on it, so I guess I was a big target.... too bad I never caught any of the punks doing it.

TXjake, since you can't catch the ones that got you, how about preventing someone's future ride from getting hit?

If those two #@$&$)&)#+@%& are so concerned about the environment, there are more than a few reputable organizations that they can join. Perhaps to warm up for such an endeavor, they can clean their rooms before their mother has a fit.

Punk opportunists.

So, how much more pollution is going to be made, to make the replacement parts?
Not just that, but now the tires are most likely going to some landfill, the vehicle will need new paint, and unless they are using water based paint, they will use something with volatile solvents.

Naaaw...that wasn't done for the environment - that was done for some guys at a autoparts supply, autobody shop, and tireshop.

(then again, buying a Hummer isn't exactly the best idea ever, either)
