1996 Rolls Royce, I don't know the model though. But I do know it looked like it was brand new and had a very large turbo. Man that thing is fast! I bet it could give a similer vintage S600 a run for its money. It weighs 6k pounds to, lots of mass, my kind of car! MPG sucks but onwers don't usualy care...
My problem is now I want one badly! That thing is a freaken tank! Made my W126 look cheap, very cheap and flimsy! ![]() My buddy wanted to look at a Ducati 996 so we went to this guys house, I guess its the owners uncle. The bike is nice but his uncle is a car nut, loves Rolls and MB's, so we talked for hours. Neither of us knew much about bikes so as my friend checked out the 996, we talked cars and checked out eachothers rides. He has an early 50's Bentley and a late 50s Caddy coupe, plus a CTSV. ![]() Hattie wants a Rolls! ![]() ![]() Here is what the car looked like, except his was silver. ![]()

Riding on goodyears.. wow.. how pedestrian.... If you spent .. what 12k to bring your SDL to the current state.. just think how much you'd spend on a rolls I like the new ones.. the RR in the middle of the wheel floats so it never spins |

I'm not a big fan of the new Rolls, they use BMW engines.
Its a very different car from anything that I am used to. I was looking at it, even the way they mount the doors is different. Cars are usualy pretty similer, be it a Ford, Chevy, or Toyota. Everything is in the same place, like the master cylinder. Well not on a Rolls, its all different. The woodwork on the dash is impressive, its on the level of the wood work on the finest boats. ![]() They feel much more "special" then any MB, even the S600's. They are very British, like the old Jag's.

I've never met anyone who wasn't impressed after feeling the monstrous low-end torque you get with the old 6.75 litre Rolls/Bently block. Probably more trouble than they're worth, but an awesome experience when you drive/ride in one that belongs to someone else. |

Did they make that in a coupe..? I only respect coupes, if it has four doors, it had better be a huge Diesel powered F superduty Ford Pick-Up truck, or a station wagon. Aside from that, perhaps a Crown Vic., or it's counterpart. Otherwise, I see absolutely no purpose at all in any kind of sedan, no matter who makes it, including Mercedes, BMW, or Rolls Royce.
That is still a really nice car, but it would be much more to my liking in a coupe body style. I heard they are fast, and powerful, with ridiculous torque, and high end power. What does that thing weigh anyways..? Hat, did you get to find out the curb weight of it, or peep an I.D. tag in the door jamb, or wherever they put them on those cars..? Just curious, It just looks so heavy in the picture..

The '08 RR Phantom convertibe coupe weighs in at at almost 5800 pounds... that's a ton more than a W123!
Amazing thing is it still gets to 60 in under 6 seconds. Really ugly car though.

Living with one of these
They are beautiful to behold and go like stink.
But to own one, you just about need to own an oil refinery. In fact, most owners do! Carry mineral oil with you wherever you go, lots of it!!!!! Definately a hoot to drive, here is Clarkson sliding one around and drifting one in lurid looping slides (the Bentley) on the track.("Blemheim Palace going sideways"!!) However, after this little caper, the entire braking system failed!!! Click to see the fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3ux-eGJoP0 "If you want perfection, buy a Mercedes....or marry an accountant" classic Clarkson Real life ownership experiences were just the other day described on Benzworld: read: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/off-topic/1330322-any-bentley-owners-here-advice.html

10-4 Rubber Ducky..LOL
I can't help but to love his reviews, even if he is a dick head. After all, I'm probably the only American you'll ever meet, who fully, and totally wishes in his heart of hearts, that he was either Canadian, or Australian, rather than American.. Even if the great grand parents had stayed in Europe, or if i went there. I probably shouldn't be saying any of this on this public site, with these guys here, but we haven't got it nearly as good as most Americans think they do here in the states. Unfortunately for me, My family and life is here. No other country will easily allow me to become a real citizen of their country, and then there's the three month limit on the passports/travel etc. You can go for three months, but then you have to come back for a certain amount of time before you can go back to a different country...Kinda like checking in, before running back out the door..It's all really a bigger hassle than it's worth, and frankly, I'm probably too lazy to go through the troubles, so I stay here with the rest of the lazy Americans.

No self-respecting RR owner would admit to knowing what kind of tyres were on his motor car, even if he did know. He has a man who attends to that sort of thing, and would refer you to him.

it is true.. but when he finds out he could have more expensive tires he will probably pitch a fit.. Because if a Mercedes owner is making fun of his RR he is going to pitch a fit
