Travel-Savvy Recommendations - O'Hare

I just noticed, with slight annoyance, that our trip back from Denver includes a 2-hour stop in Chicago. Since it will be dinner time, can anyone suggest a place at that airport that has decent food?

I don't know, too rich for my blood. It's that famous chef from LA's restaurant. Wolfgang.... something or other. It has to be good, right?

Could be. I was thinking along the lines of good deep-dish pizza or something Chicago-an. But then again airport stragglers can't be choosy.

I think you're thinking of Wolfgang Puck's.

At the end of the day, anything you eat within the friendly confines of O'hare is still airport food.

I'd call ahead to the Gino's East by the airport (Next to the Airport Marriott? and have a pie and some wings ready for pickup via a cab.

Check out http://www.flyertalk.com

I'm SURE that someone over there can point you to some good eats in or around O'Hare.

2 suggestions from my Chicago friend:

1. Burghoff Cafe in Terminal One, not as good as the old downtown restaurant which is closed now, but still about the best thing an airport has to offer. They still brew their own beer, reported to be very good.

2. Any of the many places that sell Vienna beef hot dogs.

You probably have more like a 1 1/2 hour layover because your flight boards 30 minutes before departure time. But you will only have about an hour of free time to eat when you consider the time it takes to exit the airplaine and find your next gate.

There are restaurants all over the airport, like a Wolfgang Puck where you can get pizza, or a Chili's.

There is a food court in one area of the airport where you can get a sandwhich, salad, Chinese food, etc.
