JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israel on Sunday rejected 50 Africans -- most of them reportedly from Sudan's Darfur region -- who had illegally entered the country from Egypt, a government official said.

The move angered many Israeli lawmakers and human rights advocates because of reports that some Sudanese refugees are being killed or mistreated by authorities in Egypt.

Israel has been struggling with how to cope with an increasing number of Africans, including some from Darfur, who enter the country through Israel's southern border with Egypt.

According to Israel's Haaretz newspaper, the refugees were arrested Friday evening as they tried to cross from Egypt into Israel. They were held at a military base in southern Israel before being driven back to Egypt on Sunday, the newspaper reported.

Who would have thought they would turn away a tribe of people being pursued by a relentless, murderous army controlled by a evil tyrant across the desert "How ironic".

Send them to Kahlifoahnia. Lots of illegal aliens there and nobody gives a damn.

Or better still, why not let all of those nice Muslims in the countries surrounding Sudan, also a nice Muslim country, care for them?

Heck, if they come to New Haven, CT they'll give them city issued ID cards that are accepted at N.H. area banks, businesses and state agencies as an official ID. No questions asked.

What are they sop afraid of anyhow? That these Africans will come if and expect to get a bunch of social services without paying for them? You should see how pissed off our truck driver, who is a green card carrying French Canadian who's lived in the U.S. for 25 years, gets when the subject is broached. He's been going through the process to become and American citizen for almost 5 years. He would have been better off sneaking across the border.

There is a woman with whom I used to work who sends me e mails almost daily, criticizing illegal aliens, immigrants who refuse to learn the language, etc. She is Vietnamese. She got here by marrying an American diplomat. She's more vociferously opposed to illegal immigration that any native-born American I know.

Well, in Virginia we now punish state residents who speed, drive drunk or recklessly, etc., much more severely than we do those just passing through.

We should just erect signs that say "Feel free to break our laws in Virginia unless you actually live here and pay taxes here." I can't for the life of me understand thinking like this . . .

Guy I deal with a lot is one of these "Americans" -- that hates illegals, etc. I asked him what he pays to have his lawnwork done. He said, $50 a month. One acre. I asked him the name of the guy. Hector, something or other... I asked if he had a phone number. "Nope, those people don't have numbers"
