Is the value or moral or virtue more or less important than the choice we make concerning them? I believe that there are two perspectives: One from the individual and the other from the society.
For the individual, no question but that the individual choice is the important one. Marital infidelity, thievery, dishonesty, etc are good examples of that. From a purely appetitive point of view, it's what the individual gets away with that counts. Society, regardless of political structure, prefers that people maintain marital fidelity, not steal, and be honest. I believe that it is better to be a moral human than an appetitive human. I believe that it is a uniquely human choice to have the courage to exercise wise, temperate judgment ... or not. Thus, it is a free choice we always have to act as a man, fully human ... or not. B |

Some good food for thought.
But just what we need another massivly expensive $1B government department! ![]() ![]() Human nature hasn't changed, give a man a gun, some power and tell him its for the good of the country, he will march his neighbor off to a concentration camp. We are fools to think otherwise. So the peace movement brought down the Berlin wall? Like the Soviets gave a flip about what people thought. They had enough bullits to shoot any protestors that wanted the wall down."political power comes from the barrel of a gun" Lenin
