Woodward Dream Cruise

Just got back from my first encounter of the Woodward Dream Cruise near Detroit Michigan. I had been coerced by a friend for years to go to the event, and finally I relented this year and went along. WOW ! No words can possibly describe the happenings that evolved over the weekend. Just suffice to say that if you decide to go next year,,,, you won't be dissappointed.

That must be quite a spectacle! As a gear head it's been on my "Want To Do" list for awhile. We had a distributor in Detroit who had my father come out for "business" several years ago, which just happened to coincide with the Dram Cruise. Some day...

Basically the dream cruise runs for 2 weeks. I work right off Woodward, so basically its just one major pain in my ass.

I'll bet,,, I wouldn't want to live around there when it's going on. One bright spot might be though that most of the participants seemed to be in their 50's or 60's. Very laid back and I did not see one car pulled over by one of the thousands of police all weekend. And, as we left Sunday morning, there was not a trace that anything had ever transpired on Woodward, out side of a few manufacturers displays that were still being torn down. VERY little trash to be seen.

My older brother lives in Birmingham, right in the heart of dream cruise territory. His family leaves town for the weekend.

I was up for a quick family visit in early August. Even on a plain old Saturday night there is lots of interesting iron out running up and down Woodward. Lots of people haning out in parking lots up and down the avenue, chatting, tailgating, and sitting on lawn chairs watching the spectacle drive by. Fascinating stuff.

I took a bunch of pics, but really can't do the place justice. I believe there are a lot of Woodward sites if you do the Google thingy.
