It is not clear to me that Craig made a bad choice by pleading guilty. A plea of not guilty followed by a trial would have been a media circus. Even if the trial resulted in an acquittal, his political career would have taken a serious blow (so to speak).

This is a case where justice might have been better served by having the cop give the Senator a pass. Because of his position, he did not have a realistic opportunity to defend himself against the charges. Once he was charged, he was screwed.

This is a bad case.
