Swan Gender... Google can't even seem to tell me!

How the heck can I tell the gender of a Swan?

Thanks!

Males are "swans." The females are "swanettes." Is there anything else I can help you with?

Vent-sexing when young is the cheapest way,, but somewhat difficult with adult birds.

DNA testing is accepted practice with most fowl/game birds if you don't want to go 'poking' around.

If you do want to go poking around,, it's pretty obvious whether it's a male or female once you get a look in there.

Males are larger and have larger "whatever you call the fleshy bulbs over their beaks" than females.

They can be vicious! You wouldn't catch me anywhere near the business end of a swan.

I was thinking it would make a fun video to watch someone try to sex a male or female swan.

I am not sure what you said in German, but by sex I meant to determine the gender. I think it is a farm term.

as in..."HOney why don't you go out and sex those new bunnies".

It is actually very obvious the difference in the sexes based on size and plumage on pretty much all fowl except for.....swans.

LOL-no Tom, get your head out of the gutter. Schadenfreude as in taking pleasure in other's misfortune (or stupidity in trying to sex a swan).
