Found a '57 BelAir with a manual - now what?

I got a tip from a customer about a '57 Chevy BelAir two-door hardtop with a manual tranny sitting in a field. I went and looked at it, and sure enough, it's all there. Now what?

It's in a field - no houses nearby, 22 other cars around (all old pickups and a '55 BelAir). No known owner of the property - clearly abandoned and unkempt. Do I just go take the car and apply for Lost Title? Will the State give it to me?

Anyone know what to do?

Yes. Go to the county and get the find the block/lot. From there, owner, from there the rest is easy.

Or take a gamble and steal it off the land (I wouldn't.)

This reminds me of the time that a local policeman pulled over a stolen car full of kidiots in front of my house. When the cop asked the driver where he got the car, the driver said "I found it!" Good answer.

I'm going the proper route - I've found out where the landowner lives, and I'm going to see if I can make contact this weekend.
