Talking Drove a Porsche today!

This morning for like two hours I drove around a near new Porsche Carrera Cab. OMFG that flat 6 is orgasmic! Its like it reaches around and jerks you off everytime you get past 5k rpm.

Compared to the MB's that I am used to it was like a rollar skate with a JATO rocket out back. Got I95, their goes 60, 80, 100, 120...the wind gets intense over 100.

Now I just need to drive a Ferrari to compare. The Porsche was pretty impressive though, when I get some wheel time on an F car I'll bring a towl!

I worked for a friend of mine at his garage. This guy had an '85 911 turbo. He never drove the damn thing and had alot of clutch trouble. I never drove it but I rode in it and it was awesome. Just the mechanical/road noise was intense.

Yeah I wasnt impressed at all with my friend's dad's Carrera S. Engine sounded like crap, extremely muffled and too deep. Then he revved it to redline through a couple gears and what a beatiful wail that flat 6 let out!

Like any engine you're not going to get any mean sounds out of a motor until you rev it up....big V-8's or larger are an exception.

That era of 911s is notorious for stuck clutches if not driven regularly.

Can lead to: and then .

That said, the mid-80s 911s are hands down my favorite car. I aim to buy one when I have the space to keep it inside.

No comparison, I had the conversation with my Porsche junkie dentist yesterday. He has a C4 and Cayman but I challenged him to get behind the wheel of a Ferrari.

The Porsche is a car you can live with every day. The Ferrari is a weekend compensating measure.

My GT3 was by an order of magnitude the finest car I ever owned. The Cayenne S we have is a pretty functional machine as well.

Cheers, John

The GT3 is in a class of its own, I am referring to standard Porsche's.

I have gotten buzzed by a couple GT3's on the Parkway. They are very loud!

Clarkson likes the F car over the GT3 RS.

But the GT3RS is so German!

I have driven a GT3RS, CGT, and a GT2 and a Ruf something... They are all nice cars, but they dont feel like a Ferrari.

I have driven many different Ferraris, from 308s to F60s (its the enzo), and in the Ferrari, you get this feeling that you dont get in the Porsche... Its like having sex, with your pants still on.

I do have to say that the Ruf did go like hell...

Sure ya did... any pics?

That's cool!! It's refreshing driving something different (and fast!) every once in a while.

I'm not a huge fan of the post air-cooled cars. But, if you gave me a GT3-- ehhh.. no complaints.
