Will anything get rust stains out of carpet?

I've been cleaning and detailing my Wrangler to get it ready to sell (although depending on how my yearly bonus is at the end of this month it may stick around awhile longer). We've got one of those carpet cleaners with the upholstery hose attachment and pulled a surprising amount of crap out of the carpet and seats and got out all of my coffee stains.

Since I use it for plowing in the winter, I end up with a lot of melting snow from getting in an out. For some reason I had a pair of pliers and a few sheet metal screws underneath the floor mat and now I have a nice plier-shaped rust stain that I got to lighten up with a witches' brew of Oxyclean and Resolve but I can't get rid of it. Will anything get that stain out or am I stuck with it?

You need to get your hands on some Oxalic Acid Crystals Wait don't get in your time machine and go back to the 70's Products like Wink and Zud have Oxalic Acid in them. Sprinkle on rust, little elbow grease with moist brush and wa-la gone.

I would like to know if there is a product or technique that would clean rust out as well. I was unable to get it out of my hatch area carpet and ended up using carpet dye and recolored it. My carpets had sun bleached to pinkamino so it was a multipurpose solution for me.

I guess I will get some Oxalic Acid Crystals to keep on hand

Thanks, TX. I'll give anything a try.

Chad, if it gets it out I'll be sure to pass the word.

Cool, I hope it works. I got a spot in the rear right foot area of my '03 TLS that I want to remove. I won't be using carpet dye in that car.
