EFuel100 - home ethanol production

Has anyone else seen this? A plug and play fuel processor that comes to $7000 after government incentives and claims it makes fuel for $1 per gallon. I wonder if that includes road taxes?

http://www.efuel100.com/

I also heard that pine cones may be a viable source for the sugar needed.

Interesting. I'll have to do some more reading when I get a chance.

Too bad there weren't any incentives for a bio-d processor. We diesel heads always get screwed.

Personally, I think the Forum members should buy an oil company then we could do like a co-op. Hey, I got dreams too.....I bought the winning lotto ticket today too.

I thought the same thing.

I'm sure a biodiesel processor could be made that could analyze the WVO and automatically adjust the process as needed. Is home ethanol production and storage safer than biodiesel?

Biodiesel co-ops are viable. I've been trying to get into one myself. It helps defer the costs and labor if you can get a few people with WVO sources to pool resources.

I wonder if many people have done it and how cost effective it is. I still find it hard to believe that more people aren't beholden to the WVO concept with the costs of fuel. It would be neat to have an old filling station and convert it too WVO and have different kinds of oil- chinese food, McDonalds frys, or Duncan Donut WVO.

I know there are more people doing it than advertise it. I believe many are avoiding road taxes too and don't want to get others interested in depleting their free WVO sources. I am all for going the legal route and with the cost of diesel it's still cheaper even if you have to buy your vegetable oil to start.

maybe we could have a baseline oil and have fragrance additives.

I can't see how it could be any more safer. It's probably not any less either.

That's why I'd like to know if the road taxes are accounted for in the $1.00 per gallon price. You can make biodiesel for about $0.60 to $0.75 per gallon before taxes.

Plus this EFuel100 system only produces 35 gallons per week. All the biodiesel processors I've seen can produce that in about 10 hours or less and they range from homebuilt for $200 up to complete systems for $3000.

The EFuel100 is $10k before the $3k government incentive.

Big Corn is getting more bang for their lobbyist buck than Big Soybean/Rape Seed.
