Need some help selecting a topic

I need to do a 3k word paper for Humanities and its basicly.. on anything as long as it deals with Humanities .. ya know?

I have some ideas

Our current tax system and the argument of flat taxing the nation

Political Promises : What do they mean?

The media's involvement in current and past politics

Science and The Bible good or bad chemistry?

Going to war with Iran - Stupid does as stupid is.

I duno... I kinda like the one for political promises..

I got into debate with one of the wise old men from the deli on how a flat tax in such an advanced economy would not work.

so let me hear some input

Dude,

just cut and paste any number of threads here on OD. You'll have to do a little wordsmithing, but hey...

if you decide to go with your second idea you could start of the report with a picture of a honey truck.

Any of those topics will make a good paper. Plenty of stuff to work with too, I would think.

Regardless of where you are or what you call 'em, the contents are still basically political promises.

Most of those read like topics for a Political Science or Econ class, except for the Science and the Bible one.
I suppose it depends on the exact Humanities class for which the paper is being written, but I'd look look for something more focused on Art, Literature or Philosophy. For instance, on the questions of taxes, I'd think about a paper focusing on the role of the tax collector in European Post-Enlightenment Art or something like that. Or on the media, I'd look at something like Political Cartoons in Post-War America.

Heres the thing. The prof teaching the class (all 8 of us) doesnt use the book, all of us are freaking out about what is the test going to cover, its absolute absurdity they allow a prof to teach like this. Especially at CC... I'm going to run my topics by him tomorrow but I do like the idea of Political Cartoons in Post War America (ha.. post war.. what war... mission accomplished)

What's are the titles of the course and textbooks?

WVOtoGO 09-27-2007 06:46 PM

Or maybe run with the “absolute absurdity” issue you have:

Humanity, aka - Humankind (But, nothing “Kind” about it.)
Humanity, aka - Civilization (But, nothing “Civil” about it)
Humanity, aka – The Human Race (But, nobody wins.)

Hehe, friend of mine was only 14 when she started writing college level literature/English for extra pocket money. :D

So what about how political promises portrayed through the sensationalistic media would negatively impact troops by creating a public bias if we were to go to war with Iran for reasons based primarily on religion? Or flat tax...my head hurts...
