A tip of the hat
In more than one of Fleming's novels, Miss Moneypenny is described as "the desirable Miss Moneypenny." Certainly true of Miss Maxwell in her prime!
Fleming certainly had a way with character names. Bond's secretary in the early novels was a rather attractive if severe lady named Loelia Ponsonby; his later secretary was Mary Goodnight ("Good night, Goodnight"). And then there was Moneypenny, whom Bond once playfully threatened to spank and leave her "doing [her] typing off a block of Dunlopillo." Such oddball names were and are part of the fun of the series, either books or movies, and Miss Maxwell always looked like she was having fun as well. .
