Can you ship a cat? (pics added)

Seriously? Can you?

On my way home from work today, I came across a small black kitten in the middle of a fairly busy street, traffic swerving and stopping, but no one doing anything. I stopped. Actually U-turned and stopped, at the same time as another guy.

He said "you got it?".

I said "I'll at least get it out of the middle of the road".

And did so. Then I asked him if he wanted a cat.

He said "No".

Apparently none of the people in any of the roughly 20 cars who stopped while this was underway wanted a kitten either. Where are all those crazy PETA people when you need them?

I went to my girlfriends workplace, a salon, to see if anyone there wanted a kitten. They said "No". Even her mom, a certified crazy cat lady.

So now I have a small black kitten. You may remember my post from a while back that dealt with what happens when cats of any size or color get into my yard. My dog gives them a brief amount of time to leave the yard. How much time? The rest of their lives. Suffice to say, I can't keep the kitten.

Does anyone want/need a kitten? It's cute (as opposed to those run of the mill ugly kittens everyone always has...). It seems decently healthy, certainly not starving. Likes being handled. Maybe we could all rally together and transport the kitten? Maybe? Something? This kitten needs a home...

Check with the airlines. Most can ship dogs or cats. Most restrictions are in the summer due to high temps in the cargo hold. Should be OK this time of year.

I suppose I could try that. Though to be honest, I don't think we have any Indian restaurants in our area. I'm not sure if it would be worthwhile in any case, I don't know if the kitten likes Indian food. So far all I've given it is a little left over ham and cheese. It seems to like this, so I don't really see the need to take it out for any sort of exotic cuisine. Thanks for the thought though...

I was waiting for a certified letter one early morning at the post office, and the guy behind me was there to pick up 80 baby chicks for a chicken farm he was starting!

USPS freight was $20. I soon heard the sound of 80 chirping chicks as the postal worker showed up with his package! I guess they made the trip pretty safely...go figure!!

I'd guess you can

Back in November 1998, Linda shipped Marie-Antoinette, her queenly black cat, from New Orleans to Denver (shipped her ahead of Linda's own flight, for some strange reason), and there was no problem. Marie, age 5 at the time, bounced out of her carrier and demanded her dinner just as she did after car rides.

No idea if the dam' airlines have more silly restrictions in place now. Plus, you run the risk of a plane having to sit on the tarmac for hours if there's a delay.

How about a Mercedes Shop- Cross Country delivery? Chart a course cross county to where the kitten needs to be delivered, give us a chance to meet-n-greet and help this little kitten out.

note to self: call WVO....

If there are additional expenses and hd wants it, let me know also.

I will refrain from posting my initial thought given the circumstances.

I work for an Airline and can fly free. The cat will cost me $50 to transprt in cabin.

If it is an airport to airport type thing I might be able to work it out. I just need to know the pick up airport and drop off airport to know if I can do it.

I just need to keep my wife in the dark about it. If she finds out I am transporting a homeless kitten, I will have to bring it home and it to the 5 we already have.

If one of you bastards breathes a word of this to her I will hunt you down and put your car on blocks so help me god.

BTW, and animal transported by airline must have all its shots.
