Those pups are adorable, Carleton! Is the one with the pink and black collar a brindle coat or is it just the way the pic came out (or my crappy screen)?

Carleton Hughes 10-05-2007 08:40 AM

Nate:she's only 8 so you'll have to wait about 15 years:grim::D

Yep,one's a brindle. They are both sisters.

I originally took 1 but somebody returned the other gal so I figured what the hell, why not have 2.

Funny thing is my daughter can do anything with them and all they do is lick, never even so much as nipped her.

You got your eight year old to fold the laundry?

My vote for father of the year. :D

She wants Nintendo cartridges?she has to earn the money, just like I did.

The stuff doesn't grow on trees, despite appearances to the contrary....

Great pic Carleton...the dogs are beautiful. Pit bulls have gotten a bad rap.....a buddy of mine had one when I was a kid and she was very sweet. Your daughter is quite the cutie too!:)

Dee8go 10-05-2007 09:16 AM

Wow, Carleton, I AM impressed! You get your daughter to fold laundry. Good for you. Oh, the dogs a pretty nice, too.

Truthfully I do not "get" her to do anything, she's far too independent and outspoken to listen to orders, besides she talk her way around anything with a dizzying skill that Bruce Cutler or Barry Slotnick would envy. However she realises the vitally important fact that if she wants something it's not going to be blindly thrown at her,she must earn it by performing set tasks like walking the pups, emptying the dishwasher, cleaning her room, the wash, etc.

Dee8go 10-05-2007 09:29 AM

She's a great kid.

Thanks,Let's just say she has "leadership qualities"and leave it at that.....

The phonies who are my neighbors call me harsh, but then I don't go throwing flatscreens in their bedrooms or BMWs for graduating high school:eek:

My bad,I meant 33....

Dee8go 10-05-2007 09:44 AM

My younger daughter mentioned to me about some boy she's interested in. I said, "No, there's no bodys for you until you're in your twenties at least! Boys are bad. I know. I used to be one . . . "

aklim 10-05-2007 09:48 AM

Her left arm looks like it has a tatoo

At 33, give me a call. I look for women, not girls.

One of those stick on decal thingies...apparently all the popular gals in her school have them so I see no harm in it.

No kidding. At Halloween parties, the wife uses them too. Just wondering if it was real or not. If a tattoo is tastefully done, I like it. If it is just so the person, male or female wants to be an attention whore, I don't. A tattoo where someone can still look professional is nice. A tattoo right on the face or neck, with piercings all over the face just doesn't look nice to me.

It still amazes me that common sense parenting responsibilities and expecting more out of your kids is outside the norm are considered "harsh" these days. My kids are getting off easy with me compared to my father, and compared to most of the parents we've come across we're practically authoritarian.

Let me ask you this. Which is harder? Let the kids loose or keep them controlled till they are old enough to decide their path? I think the former is easier. Well, the mindfawks tell us that if you this, that or the other, it will break their self esteem and all that psychobabble. Now, look at the kids we have today. There is no guarantee that your kids will be ok. However, the odds are that your kids will at least lead productive lives and not be a leech on society. IMO, the mindfawks tell us what we want to hear and we use that as an excuse to leave the kids be.

Well,I say tough *****.
My Grandfather gave me unconditional acceptance and love but that did not take a material, specious form.

Anything I wanted I had to earn.Besides, nothing made me sleep sounder that a hard day's labor. I can still taste the wellwater coming from the hose in the late afternoon, best drink I ever had.

Carleton- Too cute. As you mentioned before it's how you raise them.

The Swede 10-05-2007 04:24 PM

Great looking pups! They look like my brown Pit, Mary.

Oh yeah- Did you know they're vicious? Time to ban them. 3 taps to banners.

When I walk my Pit and AmStaff, a lot people ask about their temperment. No need to say much because they demonstrate great canine "citizenship" and smother the questioner with woofs of joy and fun loving antics. :)
