Do these scumbags ever quit?

So I do some international shipping of antiques.....look what popped up in my email!
________________________________________________________________
Dear Prospective Partner,
My name is Jerry Azfar , I trained and work as an external auditor for the Bank of Singapore (BOS), working as part of a bigger team that covers the entire Asian region. I had taken pains to find your contact through a random web search using the deceased surname.

On routine audit check last year, I discovered some investment accounts that had been dormant for at least twelve years. All the accounts belong to a single/one account holder with monies totalling a little above 10.5 million United States Dollars. Now banking regulation/legislation in Singapore demand that I do notify the fiscal authorities after a statutory time span of twelve years when dormant accounts of this type are called in by the Singapore Monetary Regulatory bodies.

The above set of facts underscores my reason of writing and proposing to you. My investigations of the said account reveals that the investor, an American had died in 1994-the exact time the account was last operated. I can confirm with certainty that the said investor died interstate and no next -of -kin to his estate has been found or has come forward all these years.

I am of the settled conviction that using my insider leverage, I, working with you can secure the funds in the account for us instead of allowing it pass as unclaimed funds into the coffers of the Government of Singapore . This is especially possible as you bear the same LAST NAME to the said investor. This exactly is why I crave your participation and co-operation. I am seized with all relevant documents (legal and Banking) that will facilitate our putting you forward as the claimant/beneficiary of the funds and ultimately transfer the money to an account to be nominated by you.

Of course you shall be handsomely rewarded for your part in this transaction as the people I am working with are prepared to allocate a 20% slice of the total funds for your efforts.

I shall however leave out the final details of this transaction till I receive an affirmation of your desire to participate. Rest assured that I am on top of the situation all the time and there will be no risk whatsoever if you elect to come on board. Needless to say, UTMOST CONFIDENTIALITY is of vital importance if we are to successfully reap the immense benefits of this transaction.

Find above written email contact that you may reach me with,I do expect your response. God bless.

Truly ,

Jerry Azfar

I got one the other day from a moron posing as a US Army soldier who stated he had come across a stash of millions of dollars in cash in a raid of a mansion in Iraq... and wanted my help laundering the money. The funniest part of it was that it was written in such broken English that it was strikingly apparent that this "American soldier" was not even a fluent in the language. (clearly a real genious)

No kidding.

Take one, and Cut and Paste it to a new MS Word page and watch it light up like a Christmas tree !!

Our record here in the office is (I think) eight of these type scams in one day.
Most were those: “Hey, we need your eBay/PayPal/Bank/CC – Account information to service your account or you will loose it all together in three days if you don’t…..” Oh sure…Here ya go.
(Click on that link they provide you and Norton Securities will start ringing all kinds of warning bells and whistles at you.)

I still can’t figure out who they are trying to fool. But, I guess there are some folks out there that are that --------.

Would it amaze you if you found out that 1 out of 3 people fall for these scams?

I find that unbelievable..........but, the stupidity of the public should never be underestimated.

The reason they continue is that the return rate is very high.

No. Actually it wouldn’t amaze me at all. It would scare the hell out of me.

I don’t only find it unbelievable…….But, a frightening (as well as disgusting) fact about the people around me.

Count me in as one of the underestimating. Or “past-underestimaters” as I may now be.

I guess I’ve got to quit thinking so highly of those in the world around me.

Hey Carleton, if you don't want to go for it, could you forward it to me?

No but hey, what amazes me is that the people who actually forward tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars to these characters acutally managed to accumulate those kinds of funds.

One wonders if dead beat heirs squandering daddy's hard earned money feature prominently among the ranks.

Well, I've never thought highly of those in the world around me because they continually prove quite the opposite.

The average person is a moron.

I dunno, but I have a standard cut'n paste reply that I've used for the Nigerian scam artists.

Dears Sirs or Madam,
I am liking of your proposal but due to Unted States American banking export curncy laws I need first you'r information of your' financial institute, this will keep all transaction legal but discreet.
Kindly forward me the proper name of your banque and follow with account number and then please routing number of account in whitch these money's are held pending my agreement to your proposal so I and my banque can facalitate the neccesary transfer of the funds you have indicated.
Awaiting your reply,Carl LaFong

Funny,I never hear from the same ones after that

My part-time employee will soon be entering a police academy, so went on a police ride along the other day.

They picked up a well dressed Nigerian fellow at a local bank on suspicion of check fraud. They took him in, he refused to talk and when the cop was looking away he took a piece of paper out of his pocket and swallowed it. (My guess it was his boss's 411) Apparently the guy had no record and iirc, he was merely sent back to Nigeria.
