Registering to vote... issues?
Ok here is what I did
When I was 17 in high school I had the option to pre-register to vote.. so I did and they said I would get my voter registration card when I turned 18.. so I turned 18 in Feb.. two months later no card.. so I am like.. wtf I sent in a new one last month with all the stuff they wanted.. copy of drivers license.. etc.. Nothing has came to me in the mail at all.. Hell I got my draft card a week before I turned 18:rolleyes: |

I should...
I am also pissed off at Iowa... I googled Polk country voter registrations office.. I get Polk County,Iowa... and they have a Davenport (where I live. in Polk County,Iowa).. wtf Iowa.. too lazy to think up your own county names.. |

18 year olds still have to register, but they get an acknowledgment form, not the old style draft cards. |

You could register for the draft 60 days before your 18th B-day, and I walked in the registration center and was informed that it was no longer required. But, I'm not sure when the SSS was re-instated...sometime before 1978...my brother had to register at the local Post Office. Does anyone remember when the SSS requirement came back into affect? |

Back when I was 18 -shortly after the earth cooled, the voting age was 21.
I was drafted just before my 21st birthday and never did get to vote until I was 23 and out of the Army. The registration requirement was dropped in 1975, but re-instated in 1980 because of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan |
