Our soon to be new family addition (hopefully!)

Went by a pet adoption event in Frederick today and found this guy. His name is "Tubby" and is a Beagle Mix. Pending the screening process we should know by tomorrow if he will be ours or not.

Almost broke my heart to read about the dog in his description, "This dog was turned in and asked to be put down when it's owner found it had killed one of their goats. Please this dog only has today and tomorrow or it will be euthanized." He was extremly friendly with the other dogs and just loved the attention from us. Hard to believe that goat story if it was actually true.

We have 4 dogs already, and figured, what's one more? :) If it saves him from being put down, it was worth it.

John, you're going to have to have to really be careful walking around in your yard!

Well, if you adopt him, he'll be a lucky fellow. He'll never get lonesome, that's for sure. Maybe Ellen Digeneris has some dogs you could adopt. She apparently doesn't keep them for long. . . .

Just don't let Michael vick know he is available....

He is a good looking feller (Tubby, not vicks).

Our 105# Akita is named Tobu....which in Japanese means "to hop."

Good luck with the adoption.

I'm not too keen on the name but we'll see how well he responds to it.

What's this whole thing with Ellen? I saw something about her crying on her show on best week ever but didn't catch the story behind it.

Very kind of you. I am sure the dog will appreciate your kindness and your life will be rewarded.

That is a cute little arf, and you saved him. I bet you will be rewarded with many years of loyalty and love.

A win/win situation, big time. Good going!

I think he'll fit in nicely with the others, they were both rescue dogs as well.

Good for you I love dogs! I try to stop by our local shelter once in awhile and see what they have. Then call everyone I know that wants a dog and get them to adopt one.:D

Austin will be beside herself, another sibling to coral.....congrats.

Johnhef 10-23-2007 12:49 PM

Nice looking pup! The thing with Ellen is that she adopted a dog, she couldn't get it to peacefully co-exist with her cats and was forced to give it up. Rather than just turn it back in to the shelter, she found it a good home with another family that had a kid who bonded with the dog. The shelter had a rule about giving up adopted pets which I think is really not aimed at people who give them to good homes but anyway, they came and re-possessed the dog from it's new family - broke the kid's heart and everything... :(

Johnhef 10-24-2007 08:49 PM

oh ok. I saw a clip of her bawling and didn't get it then.

we're still waiting to hear back from the shelter, they said today they're still processing, but that "everything looks good' for us

Well, I came home tonight to a nice surprise. We got picked from all that applied for him and he came home today. He's about 8 months old and seems to weigh about 70lbs so far...He didnt respond to the name he had so he's been renamed...

Everyone, meet Tycho!

Dee8go 10-25-2007 07:27 PM

Is "Tycho" pronounced like "psycho?"

Chris Bell 10-25-2007 11:16 PM

Hello Tycho
Your a lucky pooch
