W123 On Top Gear

Watched the Africa special last night. James drove a w123 across Africa, 85' 230E to be specific. Looks like the whole episode is already on youtube.

I thought that saltpan test was a bit unrepresentative of African motoring.

A good solid heavy W123 or Peugeot 504 is perfect over there, but never stood a chance against lightweight cars on that hellish salt pan.

Mind you, the W123 didn't break down, unlike the Lancia and the Opel :-)
