MS Office Professional 2007

Hey, are any of you using MS Office Professional 2007? I have it and am going to install it today, but wondered if anyone here has experience with it. Any particular problems or "issues" with it?

Everything is still there, you just have to look for it. It's very odd to be accustomed to how excel, word look and then have someone change everything.

I stuck with Office 2003. Until MS stops supporting it, I will continue to use it.

I hate it when the software cos do this, changing all of their menus, so you have to relearn the product you've gotten familiar with. Makes me feel like defecting to their competitors . . .

Dee, I use office 2k7. I like the menus better than on 2k3, and the program seems more peppier to me overall....

They did away with the chart wizard in excel, but replaced it with a menu that can do what seems like just as much as the wizard. There are a few little other quirks with office, but overall, its not that bad.

That sounds promising. I guess I'll go ahead and install it. Did you uninstall MS Office 2003 first?

I have been using it for awhile now. Its just more complicated than 2003, and I do the same stuff so I don't really care about or need whatever they changed.

Microsoft probably changed the "look and feel" of MS Office to match the equally quirky Vista...

Dee8go 11-13-2007 02:07 PM

Now you're scaring me! I've heard enough horro stories about Vista. I think I read somewhere that Dell was forced to go back to offering the previous version of Windows because people wouldn't accept their computers with Vista installed on them.

MS has become everything they opposed in the early years of their existence. Too bad.

Dee, office 2k7 is stable, so dont worry about it crashing. The only thing that you should really be worried about is getting used to the new layout of all the menus and what not.

Dee8go 11-13-2007 05:10 PM

Thanks for the reminder, Kevin. I had forgotten about this. I've already bought Office 2007, so I guess I'll try it at least. If I buy a Mac in the near future, I'll try that. I think you said it would run on OS X, if I remember correctly.

What not

It's the "What not" that scares me. That and having to re-learn how to use software I've been using for years.

It SUCKS! I use mainly Excel and it is SLOOOOOW. Graphics crawl. Features have been removed. Its unstable, I get hangs all the time. MS trained us to think in terms of the Office menu bar for what, 20 years? Now they completely change it up and its all different. Waste of money.

My spreadsheets are big and I use VBA a lot.
