Check out this mint red 300CE!
|
Where is Ernesto (Benz-LGB?)
|
He is still looking for one, I know that.
Ahh, someone better tell him about this. I know he doesn't like to buy sight unseen, but he really wants a red CE in Signal Rot, not Almandine. Price matters, and he is in no hurry, but he is definately looking, and a perfect red coupe would suit.
This one is Almandine, and it DOES supposedly have records, it might be close-enough-as-makes-no-difference. late edit: he has been notified. |

Good morning you guys.
I think I know why it has gone unsold..... Must be the cool (or hot) red interiors! Hattie, thanks for finding it. JimB thanks for the alert. I told JimB in an e-mail that I think I've found a suitable replacement. It is a 1990 300CE. It is not signal red :( but it is in very good conditions, has low miles and a thick and complete set of service records since it was bought new at Beverly Hills Motor. :) Enrique blessed the potential future purchase. Let's see what happens! |

What color is it? How did you find it? At a dealer's lot, or in a classified ad? Any pics? |
Glad you found one! The red interior would kill it for me, I don't know what people were smoking when the ordered red interior's, ahh the 80's.:D
|
Nice 300CE Hat, but as others have said - that interior is horrid. I'd be driving around murmuring "redrum....redrum....redrum"...
Ernesto - let us know how it goes and don't forget the pics! ;) |
Good call, Ernesto...
Ah, the interior color. It was a common one in the big luxury American cars from the 70's and 80's, and with the "mouse fur" velour upholstery.
The Car magazines of that somewhat benighted time called it "Bordello Red" because it reminded the automotive journalists of whorehouse interior decor. I wonder how they knew that.:confused: |
The red interior would be a deal killer for me too, but who knows? It might come back in one day.
Look at the medium brown leather interior that was common in W126 and W123 cars in the 80's. That color fell out of fashion for at least a decade, but it's definitely back in. You can find brand new Audi's and BMW's with a saddle leather interior. I love it. |

There are nice color variations still available out there, just have to find them ... You also could check on a 24 valve version, or focus on '94 to '95s. I find these to be the most refined W124 bodies ... naturally. |
I actually don't mind that color so much. The "BIN" price for that car is NUTS!
Only thing about that interior color (other than simple personal preference) is that I bet replacement or used parts and trim pieces would be very hard to find. Can't imagine that too many were ordered in that color. Wonder what that would look like w/ contrasting creme-colored sheepskins? Probably not too d#mn good but at least worth thinking about. |
Ernesto, I found you a much much better MB coupe, its red with a black interior!
Come on you know you want to!:D |

I'm sure your wife is gonna kick you out, when you pull in the drive way with that thing, unless you go straight and return it ... but what the heck! You got the ride of a lifetime! Enrique will move around a few items in the shop and fit it right in ... :D |
