Getting around in D.C.

Hi gang, I'm planning a trip to our nations' Capitol this spring and I need some advice. I don't mind driving there, but I've heard that the traffic can be horrendous, and finding a place to park is a pain in the a$$. I've heard that the Metro is a great way to get around and that the price is right. Any opinions?
