Thank you Karl Rove

I try to keep an open mind. Karl Rove, for example, seems to be the vilest of vile political hacks, but he has a remarkable track record of success with the voters. That success would seem to give him some degree of legitimacy, even if I don't know why anyone would vote for his candidate. So, I know he's a low-life, but I feel as if I should try to be open to what he has to say. It's a confusing situation for me. So, I want to thank him for going on the Charlie Rose show and confirming, once and for all, that he really is the low-life, lying creep that people say he is. I am referring, of course to his amazing claim that it was the Republican Congress who forced a vote on Iraq immediately before the 2002 election.

I generally stay away from dailykos, but I think this little piece sums up the Rove interview quite well:
Quote:
Your Words of the Day

Your first Word of the Day is exactly, which Merriam-Webster defines as: 1) in a manner or measure or to a degree or number that strictly conforms to a fact or condition. 2) in every respect : altogether, entirely.

Now, who can use the word "exactly" in the context of, say, the 2002 vote to authorize the use of force against Iraq? Karl?

Karl Rove: [T]he administration was opposed to voting on it in the fall of 2002.
Charlie Rose: Because?
Rove: Because we didn’t think it belonged in the confines of the election. We thought it made it too political. We wanted it outside the confines of the election. It seemed it make things move too fast. There were things that needed to be done to bring along allies and potential allies abroad and yet-- ...
Rose: [Y]our argument is you would have had maybe more inspections. You would have been able to build a broader coalition. You could have done a whole lot other things if you didn’t have to have a vote, right?
Rove: Right, right, exactly.

Very good, Karl. Our second Word of the Day is lie: 1) to make an untrue statement with intent to deceive 2) to create a false or misleading impression.

President Bush, would you please cite a couple examples proving that Karl just told a lie the size of, say, Texas??

September 19, 2002:

President Bush to Send Iraq Resolution to Congress Today

THE PRESIDENT: I am sending suggested language for a resolution. I want -- I've asked for Congress' support to enable the administration to keep the peace. And we look forward to a good, constructive debate in Congress. I appreciate the fact that the leadership recognizes we've got to move before the elections.

September 24, 2002:

President Urges Congress to Pass Iraq Resolution Promptly

THE PRESIDENT: Thanks for coming. We just had a very productive Cabinet meeting. We realize there's little time left in---before the Senate and the House goes home, but we're optimistic a lot can get done before now and then. Congress must act now to pass a resolution which will hold Saddam Hussein to account for a decade of defiance.

Excellent. Isn't learning fun?
I appreciate Karl's clearing that up for us.

No surprise there.

What's sad is the fact that this individual can manipulate the average moron with impunity...........in fact, it's GD scary.

I've got a lot of respect for Karl Rove...........his capabilities of electing a complete and utter moron are unmatched by any other political operative.

The danger of such an individual cannot be understated. I sincerely hope that he is unique in his capabilities and that future operatives do not have anything close to his skills.

I didn't like Bill Clinton particularly, but I thought he was a hell of a politician. Although I originally supported Dubya, I couldn't really say what his forte is . . . bike riding? Vacationing?

Mockery the easiest route, eh?

I saw part of that interview. Dude is a true believer and has been since he was a teenager. He found his clique, burrowed his way in and has no inclination to let go of his security blanket.

Making the country secure
Better economy than Clinton
Honest (I'm sure you don't think so)
Has convictions and follows them rather than polls (whether or not you agree with his convictions is another story)

The Dems hate him because he says what he is going to do and does it. They don't have anybody that falls in that category.

That said, I don't agree with Bush on everything, primarily immigration. He is totally wrong on that.

A debt burden that will have your grandchildren struggling.........the value of the dollar falling like a stone...........yep, that's what I call a good fiscal policy and a strong economy.

Can you believe that there are people in this country that will actually vote for him again, if they could??

I've seen the stupidity of the general public, but, this takes it to a new low..............

I find it difficult to believe. See, I happen to think most folks are NOT morons but I guess everybody has their blind side.
