Potential Mercedes owner

I'm thinking of getting a used 99 S320 100K miles. I currently have a Lexus LS. By talking to some people who own other luxury cars, they have all said stay away from Mercedes unless you are buying it new, or it is coming with the warranty because repair on them is ridiculous. I figure I should ask Mercedes owners to get their opinions. Now I know everyone here loves their Benz, but can I get a real objective view on this? Considering repair and maintenance costs of a Mercedes, should I be buying a used s320?

Thanks for all input.

It depends on so many factors.
What do you want to do with it?
How much does it cost?
Was it well taken care of?
Realize at 100k miles, suspension bushings probably need to be replaced in the near future 20k miles.

If I had a choice between S320 and S500, I would get the S500.

Well the LS is certainly a more reliable car, and its also a copy of the S class.

MB makes a great car you just have to be willing to pay a bit to own one. $2k-$3k a year is a good ballpark for repair costs, whichever MB model you decide on.
