need help selling a boat
A dear friend, whose husband (and my best friend) passed away this year, is selling their boat. It's an early 70s Egg Harbor sport fisher in excellent condition. Powered by 2 Chrysler 360s with low hours. Any interest here? Or where to advertise?

when I go look at boats the first thing I take notice of is that it is in the water doing what boats do best.... float... If its on a trailer I question it alot

One of the guys at the marina loves those old Egg's. They have an owners club:
http://www.eggharborowners.org/ Pretty boats, I'm not a big fan of the 80's ones though. I worked on a 40 that had scary flybridge cracks. ![]() List it in Soundings, Yacht trader, or with a boat broker. I have no idea what those go for on the used market. Old gas sportfish tend to be very hard to sell and go for very cheap. My grandfather almost donated his Chris Craft. What kind of Egg are we talking about? Is it wood? How did you get that thing out to Bermuda with gas engines, tow a tanker? ![]()

It's a glass boat, about 33'. It's only about 90 mi from Lauderdale to Bimini, but you're right about fuel consumption. It may be that gas engines are tuff to sell. I'll check the owners club-thanks.

I would suggest if she lies water access of the Chesapeake Bay, eastern shore or VA, Gas Eggs are desireable as are Trojan gas powered and other inshore 'big' boats' because of he short runs and the outrageous price of housing so people buy cheap gas rigs that look impressive and never venture past Lynnhaven Inlet r run to he Gulf Stream. Your post about its situation relative to Bimini seemed to me elusive of the locus of the boat---but actually bimini is closer than 90 miles to Ft. Lauderdale.
Bermuda in that boat? Anyone care to do the math on that one, based on the facts provided? I can't make it work unless the boat had over cap in fuel. |

![]() My father just put his '79 Pacemaker SF (Egg Harbor bought the molds when Pacemaker went bankrupt so it's identical to the 80 to mid-80's Eggs) on the market. '95 454 FI's w/about 1000 hrs. (burn about 40 gals/hr. at cruise) and a 4 yo 4K generator. With older electronics the broker set the price at $40K so if your buddy's Egg is a later-70's all glass one that really is in good shape with low hr. engines he ought to be able to get near that for a 33', 36' a tad more. Wood cabin sides ought to get mid-$20's to 30K if in good shape.

Bladder tanks? (They still scare me. The thought of a couple hundred gals. of gas in a heavy duty water bed mattress just seems to be asking for disaster!)
