How often, do you see a "Shooting Star"?
I seem to see them all the time in this area in North Carolina where I live. I even see them when it's partly, or slightly cloudy outside. I was just wondering how often anyone else sees them.
I always watch for the one on the first "Jaws" movie when it drops in the distance over the sea, behind the boat. I don't know for sure if that was a part of the script, or dumb luck, on the night they were shooting the scene. Nick |
In an area where there is not too much city light if you look up for a few minutes you can usually see one or two. I don't think I have ever seen one on an overcast night.
I once saw a huge one which just streaked across the sky at what appeared to be a very low level. I was diving at night about 2 in the morning at the time. It streaked horizontally out front of the car. It was just amazing, but it only lasted a fraction of a second or so. Tom W |
Yes, the reason I brought it up, was because I just saw one. Every time I see one, which is easily a couple times a week, I wonder how many other people happened to be looking up and spot the same one at the same time.

On a clear night I see them at least once a night if I am out and look at the sky for a while. Mostly during the warmer months though. :D ;)
