Need help finding oil pressure sending unit, 99 mazda B3000 truck

I'm supposed to be putting in a new oil pressure sending unit in my uncles truck. It's a really nice Mazda B3000, a green troy lee eddition with the stripes deleated. Exelent shape... It's kinda under powered, 3.0 V6 with like 120hp or something, with an automatic trans. Ok, it's really underpowered, but that's not the freekin point.

Anyways, It's been showing no oil pressure until it warms up and the check gauge idiot light is lit up. It runs fine, no unusual noise what so ever. I suspect the sending unit went to hell, so I'm going to replace it. Too bad I cant find it.

I've had it on a lift, looking under the engine by the oil filter, and around the block. I've taken the rubber intake hose off and seen the two temp sending units, still cant find it.

Can anyone help me?
Tks alot
~Nate

Which engine?

3.0L V6 FI (U)

or

3.0L V6 FLEX FI (V)

You’ll find the U or the V as the 8th character of the VIN (I think).

According to them....

It is located on the passenger side, top of engine at about 11:00 position, right where the engine and transmission bell housing bolt together. Also it will be right in front of the transmission fill dip stick tube.

Here's another one from WikiAnswers. They make it sound as though it would be easy to miss.

Quote:
The oil switch is located on the passenger side of the truck in the back of the engine. Look for the transmission dipstick, then feel for it between the transmission dipstick and the engine block. It is hidden pretty well, but a socket wrench will fit to take it off. The new part uses a 1-1/16 socket, the old part for some reason was smaller, I think 13/16 inch. Hope that helps.

The payment for this is I get to drive the truck till i'm done fixing it (as opposed to my 95 tracker with no 5th, reverse, radio, or seats...)

I'm replacing the tranny this weekend, I hope...

Nate,

Remember, only 3 Mazda B-3000s were ever made, so finding Mazda-specific info is tough. But 93,000,000 Ford Rangers, the B-3000/B-4000's mechanical twin, were built. Always try to realize these mechanical relationships when looking for info.
