The Day After-Relieved, Happy or Sad That "It" Is Over?

Christmas that is (assuming of course that you celebrate it ). I love being with family, seeing the kids faces when opening presents, the merriment and the cheer. But I have to say that I'm relieved that we survived Christmas!

We did a little more travelling than usual this year in that we went to my wife's grandmother's house on Christmas Eve to meet up with her family for dinner (for the 1st time in 16 years-it's only about an hour away), then onto my grandmother's to meet up with my mother's side of the family. Christmas day was at my house for dinner with my parents, uncle, sister and her BF and my FIL, then to my brother's for dessert and exchanging with his family.

It was a whirlwind. While there is a tinge of me that is sad it's over, it's mostly relief!

I just stopped by the house to drop off a coffee for the wife (and pick up a shot or two of heat for mine) and it looks like a toy bomb went off. Thank the man upstairs for work today!

Enjoy your youth and "singlehood", Hattie! It's all down hill after that.

We've got a couple of couples and their kids coming over for New Year's Eve. I think I'm going to break out my turkey fryer and make a bunch of batches of different chicken wings for appetizers. One of the guys coming is an outstanding cook and he's going to whip up some dinner stuff. Some Sam Adams, some wine, some champagne, a game or two of guys vs. ladies Trivial Pursuit (the ladies are trying to redeem themselves for their 3 yr. losing streak) and probably a movie or two. Something to keep us all from falling asleep at 11:00.

Just well satisfied. Was a fun time

Except my damn Ford truck decided it's time to replace ANOTHER ignition coil on the way to the relatives Christmas eve, thru a snow blizzard. Limped there and back on 7 cylinders. Absolutely the last domestic vehicle I'll ever own! Rant over.
Ahhhh....I do feel better now.

Bummer about the truck, rick. Glad to hear you were able to get there and back safely, albeit a bit slower!

I guess "satisfied" would have been another good choice. That's pretty near where I am. OTOH I have been listening to Sirius 2 for a good part of the morning, they're still playing Christmas tunes so I guess I'm not quite ready to let go yet.

It'll be back next year, no matter how much I wish it wouldn't.

This year one of the nieces or nephews slipped a Starwars doll (oops! action figure!) into Mom's creche scene. The doll was posed with the body language of adoration.

Was that a pro or con?
