Question Video forum - what do you think?

Looking for some input...

I'm testing the idea of having a way for people to embed videos like YouTube into posts. Check out the Video Forum and let me know your thoughts.
Keep it? Kill it? Change it?

I think it's a good idea. It's going to have to be closely moderated as there's a lot of junk/porn out there. Would it be for Mercedes related video's or anything?

I think it's a great idea! Any chance we can have the ability on the entire ShopForum? I don't think it uses up any extra bandwidth since they are links...Correct?

Yes, it is possible to have the ability on the entire ShopForum. No, it does not use up any additional bandwidth.

My only concern is that it is possible to embed viruses, trojans and other bad things into videos. I'm not sure if YouTube has any type of screening to help prevent that. That's one of the reasons I did this as a test rather than rolling it out across the board. If there wasn't much interest then I could delete the Video Forum and all of the posts within.

Try posting some videos in the Video Forum and let me know how it goes.

Well, as long as you understand that the embedded videos are not likely to be excerpts from Playhouse 90, but more of this caliber http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwZyx7gc9fU I'm all for it.

Great idea. I have been making time-lapse videos of the restoration of my 250C; being able to embed videos would be awesome.

Hello Webmaster

I think that having video embeded in forum content is inevitable.
If you start now you can stay a little ahead of the curve.

There will be problems,
but that is how we become wise,
by solving problems.

Have Fun !

I also think it is a great idea. Not only for Non-Automotive items like in the OD.
It could be a great tool to post instructional videos made by members relating to any of the Tech sections.

Great idea Bill!

Might end up being a pretty girls video lounge.
