I am woefully ignorant concerning the politics in Pakistan. She was a Christian. I just assumed it was radical Islamic fundamentalists who did it. I figured she had to be one very ballsy lady to do the things she's done. I think it's probably a real loss for Pakistan.

What was her position on their relations with the US?

Next to President Pervez Musharraf, Bhutto, 54, was the best known political figure in the country. She had served two terms as prime minister between 1988 and 1996. She was respected in the West for her liberal outlook and determination to combat the spread of Islamic extremism, a theme she returned to often in her campaign speeches.

Ah, but they didn't say how they would achieve the peace. When you kill those that won't convert, you have peace since you won't fight yourself.

Musharraf's opponents are dropping like flies (I think this makes 2 that have been eliminated from the competition). Seems like a strange coincidence to me.

And Mushie has had several attempts on his life, too.

Who would benefit by having all of these people killed-off?

It is a damn shame. I was kind of shocked when I read it but then I wasn't. She just had an attempt on her life a few weeks ago plus the lockdown. You think there would have been better security.

Sounds like a conspiracy theory in the making.
