First day trading for 2008
Today the stock market set a new record: The biggest first-day drop in history. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come!
Crude oil hit $100 a barrel!

Only fools buy when high and sell when low. I'll take ALL the down days Wall Street wants to throw at me to buy stocks on-sale. Berkshire-Hathaway, Inc. (BRK.A) is one heck of a STRONG BUY. |

It's only down 12K from its historic high (of 11 Dec 07). That's about 9%.
Perhaps it was too high last 11 Dec and not too low now. It lost 2300 today. |

I have always added to my position at every 52 week low of Berkshire, and, load-up on it at the leading edge in leaving a recession. BTW, it doesn't take thousands of shares to add up to a meaningful position in Berkshire. The only time I ever sold shares of Berkshire-Hathaway, was when I bought my last home. Two shares bought me a doosey of a home. On Microsoft, my sources have Microsoft stock at a HOLD......not a sell......... Last edited by Skid Row Joe; 01-03-2008 at 12:53 PM. |

No, I didn't sell it yesterday. I sld it a while ago when I needed the money for something else. It has not performed well since I bought it. I did get the $3.00 a share one-time dividend, though.
My hat is off to you if you're a BH shareholder. Since there's so much BS on internet forums, I tend to think comments like yours don't have any substance behind them. My appologies to you sir. I applaude your foresight in making a helluva great investment 24 years ago!

Diego, thanks! I guess it didn't hurt being born and raised in Omaha, NE. Buffett had been a known local investing commodity for a couple decades by the time I started buying Berkshire. There are currently 30 families/individuals in Omaha each owning 100 million dollars or more of Berkshire. Sometimes it does matter where you're from.
The 2004 $3.00 cash dividend per share from Microsoft was one of the best presents I have ever earned in the stock market. |
