Thumbs up Acura Will Introduce Clean Diesel i-DTEC Engine in 2009

http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=732394

A combination of optimized combustion chamber design and reduced injection time results in a clean, quiet engine that delivers excellent performance for an enjoyable driving experience. In addition, the i-DTEC engine meets the ultra-stringent U.S. EPA Tier II Bin 5 emission standards without the on-board storage of urea.

Cool. Now they just need to design a car I like and install that engine in it.

Nice! I like the new Acura TL a lot, but its FWD so I won't buy one.

But if they make a RWD car I'd be interested.

Can't wait for these diesels. Now only if they'd put it in a pickup truck. I wouldn't be able to contain myself.

The MDX, RDX or an Acura version of the Ridgeline would be cool.

They would also have a nice highway cruiser with a diesel AWD RL.

INteresting photos. I imagine getting a rocker out of there might be a bit tricky. The general configuratio of the valve train is the same as modern benz diesels.

I will go to see it with my checkbook in my pocket. The one thing that has me a little hesitant is that the big news is an emissions system. I just don't get too excited about emissions anymore.

Don't worry about the emissions, Honda has you fully covered on that. All we need is a rear wheel drive Acura.

Some more developments.......

Honda's first U.S. diesel engine will debut next year on Acura's redesigned TSX sedan.

At the auto show here, CEO Takeo Fukui announced that Honda Motor Corp.'s new clean diesel will appear first on an Acura. He did not say which vehicle, but Honda sources say it will be the TSX.
