Silver Star Across America

I was thinking it might be neat to take a Mercedes Star and "relay" it across America. We could arrange for Forum members to drive and meet up at certain points to pass it along. Of course we'd include a few disposable cameras so we can record this event. What do you think? And yes I believe we can do this....

That's a great idea. I'm in if it passes through north Texas. You might even consider a complete circumnavigation of the country. I bet we could do it!

I know exactly where you got THIS idea:

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=201364&highlight=ship+cat&page=10

The principle of stare decisis says of course, yes, it could be done.....

Which begs the issue of of the threshold question: errr, WHY??!!

Yeah, if we sent it west through the southern US and then east through the northern part of the country, we could hit a lot of people. A picture at each hand off would make a pretty cool slide show. Great idea, Mistress. I'm in.

It is a neat idea. Tragically I've just had to junk my 240D. Otherwise it's something I would certainly be interested in doing.

Maybe we could also meet at the nearest historical landmark for the photo, that'd be cool too.

Empire State building, Golden Gate Bridge, Mormon temple in Utah, St. Louis Arch, Utah park Arches, Texas "Cadillac" ranch in Amarillo, White House in DC, Black Hills South Dakota, Historic New Orleans, all kinds of places beckon.

A map could be drawn up, and posted, with routes.

The object coud be run around the entire continental United States, and end up exaactly where it started!

In deference to Mistress, perhaps it could begin and end in Washington, DC!!!

And whatever "IT" turned out to be it should be big enough to be very recognizable in each photograph as something distinctly Mercedes Benz. (Big hubcap or chrome tristar, or something you couldn't miss.)

Aw, where's your sense of adventure, Joe?

Cigar Afficianado magazine has a section in the back where readers send in photos of themselves enjoying cigars in various places around the world, and a special occassions. The idea of having this one object travel around the country and being touched by so many of us seems pretty cool to me.

I can take it from the US Capitol or Washington Monument up to NY or out to Western Maryland, WV, Pa, or Ohio or vice versa. Count me in whether I have a working MB or not
