Bathroom fan alert !!
Late last year when my wife turned the fan/light on in our main bathroom, sparks and smoke ensued. Needless to say, she was VERY upset, as I wasn't at home at the time, and she was wondering if a fire might start. A fire did almost start, as the wires looked like a wiring harness from a 93 400E, or worse! I fixed that fan up with new wires and sockets,,, works fine, but a very close call. Today she had me check the fan in our smaller bathroom,,,, YIKES !!!! No bare wires, but so much lint and crud, I couldn't believe it. Another disaster in the making. It has probably been at least 10 to 15 years since I looked at the fans, so I would advise, if you have a fan assembly in the bathroom,,, and who doesn't,, take it apart and check it out. You may save your own life or house. I would post pictures, but I would be embarrassed, it was so disgusting. We do keep a pretty clean house,,,, usually.

another place to check that really gets ignored is the dryer vent.man the lint that accumulates in there is scary.

Well now,the dryer pipe lint accumulation is indeed an accident waiting to happen.
Now as to the invariable stench asociated with stooling,I generally carry matches which usually do the trick, specially since I favor ethnic foods which chiefly have more of a taste going in as well as coming out |

A friend of mine's house was pretty badly burned in a fire resulting from a dirty exhaust fan with eroded insulation on the wiring.
