Nomination guessing time

OK, since my Obama thread seemed to have sparked some interesting debate, let me try to do the same here:

Sor far, the principal focus of the discussions here has been on the subject of who is going to get the nomination for each respective party.

Shifting the focus now, who do you think will get the nod as the nomimees' running mates:

DEMS

IF Obama is nominated, who will be his running mate:

IF Billary is nominated, who will be their runing mate:

REPS

If McCain, who will be the running mate:

IF Rommey, who will be the running mate:

I will start...

Obama/the Governor of Kansas (I can't remember her name). This will pacify the feminists who had their hopes pinned on Billary.

Billary/Richardson: I know he did badly in the primaries, but he has presence (some would say girth), appeals to Hispanics, has experience and is well-liked in the Southwest.

McCain/Huckabee: McCain is suspect among conservatives and Christians, two of the core groups in the GOP. Huckabee will help McCain in areas where McCain lacks GOP support.

Rommey/Powell: 'Nuff said.

Now, for something fun....by how many points will the Patriots beat the Giants in the Super Bowl?

Don't you think that Obama or Hillary would take a stab at trying to get Edwards on board? It could go a long way towards uniting a party that is starting to get tired of the way that the two front runners are sniping at each other.

I haven't got a clue about the Repos. Haven't been following that one closely enough. I know it would never happen, but it would sure be interesting if the Repo winner managed to get Ron Paul on board as a VP candidate.

You can forget Powell.

McCain/Huckabee is interesting.
McCain/Romney is somewhat possible.
Romney/Huckabee is less so. And the least interesting.
I think Huckabee is in a good position to be a VP nominee

I would love to see Obama/Richardson, but it's not going to happen.
I think it'll be Clinton/Edwards. Clinton/Obama just won't work since the Clintons have already laid the groundwork attacking Obama and it would ring false to then defend against it.
Unfortunately, I don't think Obama can pull out the nomination, which means I will have to start my revolution soon.

Clinton Obama does not work because they are both from Illinois.

Actually a westerner would be good to pair with Clinton....hmmmm, Richardson?

Well, if you don't like Billary & Obama, how about Billary & Osama. Really only one letter difference?!?

Let me know if you need some help...having lived in Cuba during the early yeas of kastro's regime, I am somewhat of an expert on the subject of revolutions. :D

You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We'd all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know
We'd all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you that can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be alright [x3]

You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all want to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're all doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright [x4]

You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We'd all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know know it's gonna be alright [x3]
Alright [x7]

Just once I'd like to see an election where candidates try and win on their own merrits and stop the sniping and mud slinging. We have too many problems in this country to have to listen to people qip about the opposite candidate non-stop.

Mccain and Ron Paul.
Hill and Edwards

What planet are YOU from?
:D

Ha ha ha. Having read Founding Brothers and various biographies of the founding fathers and the early history of the US, I think today's politics maybe tamer than they were back then.

t walgamuth 02-01-2008 11:07 AM

They accused Jefferson of sleeping with his slave girl.....

They called Lincoln a baboon....

They were almost as rough on Elenore Roosevelt as Hillary.....maybe as rough.

They said that the pope would be calling the shots if Kennedy was elected...

This year it is kindof tame, really.

Obama is saying Hillary might listen to what Bill says....(that seems kindof a silly thing to accuse, why wouldn't she listen to him?)

Hillary is saying Obama has been kindof weak in his voting record....(no *****?) They also say he lacks experience.....(WOW, don't be so vicious!) Now I read where one of her staff has said that Obama might not do so well with Hispanics (FLASH!).

Next thing you know the Republicans will be saying MItt's smile looks fake, Guliani has been divorced, and Ron Paul can't get elected!

YIHAAAAAA!

Yes! For all of you who long for the past, read the transcripts of the Lincoln-Douglas debates.

That will make Obama-Billary and Big Mac-Rommey sound tame by comparison.

Mistress 02-01-2008 12:18 PM

Eernesto I'd vote for you if you ran.....your campaign slogan "A Mohito In Every Kitchen." or something like that. The you can take of that little embargo problem and get them cigars imported again!!!!!

What real power does the VP have anyway and what's the role of VP running mate in an election?
