Thumbs up The All-New Honda Euro-Accord

http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=740462

The new range is one of the first to offer a complete engine line-up that will comply with the forthcoming Euro 5 emissions regulations which aren’t due to be introduced until September 2009.

Making its debut is Honda’s second-generation diesel engine which builds on the outstanding qualities of the award-winning i-CTDi unit to raise the bar in the diesel stakes once again.

It employs the latest piezoelectric multi-stage fuel injection technology, more efficient exhaust gas recirculation and a particulate filter for significantly reduced emissions. At the same time both power and torque levels have been increased for a sportier driving experience. Output is 10 PS greater at 150 PS/110 kW at the same 4,000 rpm, while peak torque is now 350 Nm at 2,000 rpm.

That engine will be available on the 2009 Acura TSX, which is the European Accord marketed in the US. Should be nice.

Lets hope by 2010 Honda makes a V6 diesel as well as V8 if I am not hoping too much. The potential of the CDTi engine is quite high so it would be really interesting.

The US gets the new Accord that looks horrible; the Euros get an accord that looks fantastic. I'm glad that they (and other makers) are finally bringing some good diesels to the US market, but that Accord in sedan and wagon form looks fantastic.

I know and that kinda sucks......I am going to replace my now ancient high mileage Accord V6 but only with the diesel one, nothing else. Guess will have to stick to the ugly Accord unfortunately.
