Dead Mercedes Etiquette

On the way to work this afternoon, I passed by a 300D in the median of the highway. I didn't see anyone by it or in it needing help, so I went on to work.

Got to thinking about what my reaction should have been if I hadn't been in a hurry. My options:

1. Leave a note offering to buy it at a bargain price.

2. Think about what the HOA has already been complaining about and
forget about bringing home another stray.

3. Place small, valuable, easily removeable parts in safe-keeping so no one will steal them.

What would you do?

I'd mostly be wondering what could have made the car stall there in the first place How in the world does anyone get a 300D to die? Water in the fuel? Poor 'ol thing.

Not in San Antonio (this week anyway).

As you can't really kill the car....Let's blame W for making fuel priced so high the owner couldn't afford fuel and just ran out.

Maybe a yuppie owned it and the ashtray became full, requiring abandonment.

I don't know about you but my 300SD always left me stranded. I must admit except for the alternator going out it was my fault. I was new to MB and tried to replace the alternator and I couldn't figure out the belt system. I tried to pry them off with a screwdriver! How stupid as a week later on of them snapped and cut my transmission cooler line. Yep, I was stuck on the side of the road because of my stupidity once again. Perhaps that owner is just like me. Plus, since it's a Mercedes, it's not Dead. It's merely temporarily taking a break from running. Thats what my Merc does.
By the way, where is this car? Maybe I can buy it cheap before you!

A clear case of "failure to proceed".

At least stop and put the 1-800 Mercedes number on the windshield.
There's not much that will stop the 617 if it's running but the things that will are often catastrophic such as a broken oil cooler line.

Usualy around here the old MB's that break down as scary looking, and I'm worried that the owners will mug me!

In NE when a car breaks down you ignore them, NFW will someone stop.
